Gaga absolutely dominated radio in 2009. She was asked to perform on almost every award show, every televised talent show, every talk show. She was the main talk in the celebrity world with her outfits, inter-sex rumors, and music.
I don't see meghan being anywhere as big as Gaga was during TF/TFM, but I can't really think of any other debuts since then that were even remotely big, so I guess?

This only works if the user in question was referring to the Lana Del Rey EP as Lana's debut, which they weren't; the Title EP is a preview of the Title album and really doesn't make sense to count as a debut. The user was likely referring to the Kill Kill EP or the Lana Del Ray album from 2010, though I would say it's worth noting that the aforementioned album was pulled from iTunes some time after release.

And another before that - all of which were self released and not supported by any label, none of which are currently available.

Oh please, that previous album was an indie effort that got pulled from iTunes. Born to Die is her major label debut and her introduction as an artist to the world, it absolutely is her debut album. And yes, it did sell 5 million copies globally. This is fact.

Yes, absolutely. Especially considering the holiday season happened in those three months, and that Born to Die has been an exceptional catalogue seller.

Lord is ahead of her by a little right now, but if it's sales are consistent and there are 1-2 more big singles, than yes

Ohh!! How did we forget about Ke$ha? (don't answer that). Yeah, Meghan hasn't topped Ke$ha's debut yet, but it could.

I know that Title is her major label debut, I'm just saying that technically she released albums before this one just like Lana.

If her pattern continues, compared to Kesha's, she definitely will.
