I can see why people thinks she sold out
She's heavily influenced by Shampoo, the bubblegum pop/punk band. Plus she cites Bow Wow Wow's I Want Candy as something that's 'so bad it's good' type of music.
She def made her way into edgy indie sound pop music with her first album, now she's trashy and carefree. That's why I kinda pass her off lyrically with songs like Boom Clap and Break the Rules, which are essentially lazy and awful. But with Charli's edge it makes sense idk
