Stats: U2 would have sold 450-500K first week; LP 200K+ first day

Is the 450k+ number how many times it's expected to be downloaded, or is it the assumed number that would have been purchased if it were actually sold for money? ![huh?](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/7be5c36a.gif)

Mine will only appear on my iPhone if I'm on Wi-Fi other than that its in my library since I did download it. ![Nicole 2](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/nicole2_zps16a99864.gif)

That was JUST for marketing for the album. They got additional money too. ![JonnyϟLightning](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/jonny_zpsc73391c5.png) They'll be slaying all our combined faves on Forbes.

These figures are all very misleading and confusing.
Things to do with an unwanted U2 album
Quote:
1. Make it the basis of an ice bucket-style charity challenge, in which you film yourself having the songs unceremoniously dumped into your ears, to raise awareness of whatever Bono is bleating about at the moment.
2. Section off a room in your house and pipe the album into it, which you can probably do nowadays via Wi-Fi or something, on a continuous 24-hour-a-day loop. You can then use this as a sort of “sonic naughty step” for your children.
3. When you are feeling low or uninspired, simply take a moment to look at the Songs of Innocence icon and its play count of zero, and remind yourself that things could always be worse.
4. Use it as a legal justification to mercilessly troll Bono across all major social media platforms. He may not want to receive your annoying, offensive material, but, hey, he started it.
5. Use one of the standout songs, assuming there is one, as a custom ringtone for incoming calls from anyone you don’t like.

Every article I read said 100M for the product, the marketing and others. Only ATRLers thought they got the entire 100M.
And 30M is INSANE!! That's like selling 10M copies or so.
And the Grammy meeting wasn't confirmed. Their manager said "we are celebrating today, we'll think about other stuffs tomorrow".

U2 are experiencing the pains of being ahead of the curve.
After the release yesterday (Sept. 9) of a new album, Songs of Innocence, for free via iTunes and during the worldwide event at when the iPhone 6, iWatch and a new Apple Pay system were revealed, they are now facing some consequences from the business side of the music industry.
Billboard reports that their new album will not be eligible for consideration for the 57th GRAMMY Awards.
The Recording Academy only considers albums released before Sept. 30, 2014, for that particular year, and due to the freely available nature of this album ahead of its commercial release date of Oct. 14 will not be considering it.
The Academy feels it does meet the qualifications for consideration in the 58th ceremony, however.
“All entries — singles, tracks, albums — must be commercially released, nationally distributed and available from any date within the eligibility period,” a representative for the GRAMMYs told Billboard.
The trick there is the phrase “commercially released” — giving it away for free with a future commercial release date apparently doesn’t count for the GRAMMYs.
Additionally Billboard revealed that, much like Jay Z’s Magna Carta giveaway with Samsung, U2’s free album will not count toward the Billboard 200 albums chart until October.
It will only track copies of Songs of Innocence that are sold and it will not be tracked by that chart until its commercial release.
That said, Billboard does expect it to potentially impact other charts, including streaming, social, alternative and rock charts, which have different tracking criteria than the Billboard 200.
The RIAA have not yet made a statement on if they will certify the U2 album with gold or platinum status that includes the free downloads of this album. It is a decision they are unlikely to weigh in on until the band reaches that mark.
Songs of Innocence is available to any new or existing iTunes customer and all Beats subscribers for free from now until Oct. 14.

People saying they have the album and they can't delete it, why did you even get into U2's page to begin with? ![rip](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRLSmilies/rip_zpsec10ede9.gif) If you don't like U2, why enter their iTunes page?

I didn't even enter their itunes page, itunes just automatically downloads their album to your soundcloud and it's annoying. I was even puzzled when I saw U2 in my itunes library ![Bibliotheque](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/biblio_zps23dff242.gif)

Who cares if they only got 500,000 downloads. If they got paid an upfront cost of $30 million to the 500k of downloads you realize that's like paying $60,000 for each download.
ATRL ha lack of logic never astounds me. ![:o](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRLSmilies/redface_zpsfd99364e.gif)

I don't see why ARTL should care for a lot of things, but you know its all about receipts and how (A) is better than (B) because of (X).
