So we are just supposed to take your opinion for what you think occurred? Beyoncé had the say about how her product was to be delivered and was even there negotiating the details of the iTunes release days before it occurred. There was also no need for hype; how can you have hype over a record that no one knew details about? So I think that it's you who should be giving Beyoncé the credit.

I think it's very "Beyoncé" to do a surprise release. If you look at who she is closely associated with (Kanye & Jay-Z) you'll see that both of them gave very minimal notice that their albums were coming out. The same could be said for JT who she was working with. So it's quite possible that the idea came from Parkwood, inspired by these things.

Regardless, Beyoncé is the one to actually do it so it doesn't matter who thought of it, it matters who executed it.

Also, all Columbia would have had to do was announce a release date for her album and the hype would be back up right away. Add a new single release date, the release, the first music video, a major performance and viola: hype again.

People don't realize Beyonce doesn't have a regular contract. As much as I hate Mathew dirty ass he worked up a contract with Columbia for her and Destiny's Child that gives her full control of everyone of her projects. They're really only there for distribution of her albums, singles, and dvds. She's paying for her studio time, writers, producers, etc. therefore getting more profit back than your average successful pop girl.

Parkwood also payed for the Production of the Mrs. Carter Show and On the Run, btw.

Which is all that needs to be said. She had "help" with that innovative idea that you speak of. So, how do we know that Columbia didn't collaborate with the hired help from her production company and come up with the surprise release idea to present to her? Of course since it's her product and she is the face pushing the brand; she's going to get the credit for being the "brains" of the operation. That doesn't make it true and people that aren't stans can see that.

But she was the one saying she wanted to surprise release her album not her label

She might as well stay with them so they can handle the big label expenses such as manufacturing and distributing WW as well as sending songs to radio etc.

That's literally all she uses them for anyway, she doesn't turn up to Columbia meetings and does almost everything herself with Parkwood. The label is just good for the financial side of things.

Your entire argument seems to be "How do you really know for sure?" which essentially adds up to no point being made whatsoever.

Colombia had absolutely nothing to do with the surprise release. Bey and Parkwood came up with that.

They helped her execute the idea.

But, as everyone from the few Columbia execs that had a helping hand to her team at Parkwood has said that the surprise release and visuals for every song (which she payed for out of pocket) was her idea. Record labels aren't willing to take those kind of risk and spend that kind of money. Especially on an artist who had just come out of a underwhelming era.


Why do you think Columbia kept on sending out those soon ads to radio every month? They were just in the dark as everyone else.
