My issue is the intent. It seems to me them and others like them saw a market for their product, and then want to cloak themselves in charity to make money off of it.
I think you're making a lot of assumptions based on nothing.
And as a separate issue, I realize corporate social justice can seem dubious, but ultimately I think it's pretty ok. We live in a capitalist society. The company makes some money, and we get support, sounds like a win-win situation.
