I've come up with a rough estimation using other countries' certification thresholds.
Australia 7× Platinum = 490,000
Belgium Gold = 15,000
Canada 6× Platinum = 480,000
Denmark Platinum = 20,000
Germany Gold = 100,000
Indonesia Platinum = 15,000
Italy Platinum = 50,000
New Zealand 4× Platinum = 60,000
Sweden 2× Platinum = 80,000
Switzerland Gold = 10,000
United Kingdom Gold = 100,000
United States 7× Platinum = 7,000,000
Venezuela Platinum = 10,000
Royals total sales estimate = 8,430,000+

That's pretty good, I think.
The only thing is, US certifications now include streams. So she most likely has not sold 7M in the US. The figure would be closer to 6M; probably a bit under.

I would think so. I was baffled when I heard Royals was 7x Platinum in the US because as of this April it had only sold ~5.5M. That makes sense.

The equivalent Australia USA is pretty the same
Australia 490.000 x 15 = 7,3 millions (even better if we assume Australia without streaming)
New Zealand 60.000 x 66 = 4 millions

I'm just happy because all the 1 hit wonders are 7x plat in sales so Lorde will stick round because her biggest hit is only 5.5x plat in sales

I think platinum means a lot more in the UK than it does for the US. It's a bit harder to get.
She'll hopefully be crossing 3M by the end of 2014

It's more like if 600k - 64 million population, means equivalent - in US 3 mil.
The US has the population by 5 times of the UK
But you are right with the weight of music market, the music market in the US is only 3,1 times higher than the UK
Means - 600 k in UK music market share means platinum in the US for 1,8 mil.
