Well, if we are talking about the good old days, then why aren't we still buying music on vinyls or 45s.

In my father's time, vinyls were the thing. He didn't just stay in the "good old" days and never buy a CD or download music. He changed with the times as many people will do soon enough.

I will never change. I will continue to buy my albums at the store for $8.88 to 14.88. I will never download. it's a evil practice

But eventually they will stop making CDs. Just like you can't find vinyl, records, 8 tracks, or cassettes.

LMAO. Illegal downloads ruined the music industry let's say that's Jeremy's reason not to download.
Now, moving on. I read a while ago about a lady that was sued with 20,000 dlls because she was sharing 20 songs on Ares if i remember well. They tracked her Ip and caught her. The fine was an estimate from the people who downloaded from her and the amount they would have paid.
The lady didn't have an idea she was gonna get caught i mean. Sharing 20 songs!!!! I bet the stupid idiot didn't know how to remove them from sharing hahaha. No, seriously i thought it was awful, she was a single mom with 2 kids working as a waiter and still she had to manage to pay that before going to jail.
So my point is, there are cases where you can actually go to jail but only in the US as far as i know.
In Mexico they really don't give a **** unless you profit out of it.

Oh my God, you're a freak.

The only way to save it is by offering a new HD CD quality type music.
Like Liyoh stated, Blu Rays are taking over DVD's now. You can't download Blu Ray movies PERIOD. Even if you tried. You can download DVD's though.
I think they need to make HD CD's with better quality music with a certain type player (Like Blu Ray Player). And the Blu Ray CD's only play in that drive. You can't downloaded "Blu Ray" CD's so it won't work?
And what they should do is where you can get a digital download to the Blu Ray's music on a certain website with a code to enjoy the music without a Blu Ray player for your iPod or something. And Blu Ray's readers ARE NOT installed into Laptops!
I also think offering more features would be neat, like you win a chance to win free concert tickets, or coupons...etc.
The real question though is, how much more HD can music get? Can it??? What would be the main difference between HD Music compared to the Music we have now? Is it even digitally possible? Like can we make music more HD? When you watch Blu Ray's, doesn't the noise sound more HD compared to most DVD's? So can't they do that in a CD type format but without picture?
Anything is possible...

Liyoh, even though Mexico don't give a crap, it's one of the biggest album markets.

Or maybe they should put a tag saying:
"Free Drink Coaster if you feel the CD didn't meet up to your standards"

Or maybe most stores should offer a deal. Like you buy three, get one free.
Or something. That usually tends to work. But the CD that get's free will be the loser in the end =(.
Like when Best Buy tends to have those certain deals around the Holidays (Christmas Time), it usually does bring in a lot of sales. But that's the only time sales are up. Maybe if they make that a full time deal per year, it would work.
But look at Lil' Wayne's example, it proves that people are still buying CDs. What is the difference between Lil' Wayne's music compared to the rest? I can see Lil' Wayne going 3 to 4 million in the next 6 months if promoted right. Isn't he like around 2 million now?
But going back to my first idea, usually people are attracted to the word "FREE." People will notice it and take a look to see what is being offered. I don't know many people who are not attracted to the word "FREE." It would attract consumers.
I've only bought three albums the past two months, only because I'm on a tight budget since I bought a 20k car =\.

bingo. people will buy CDs when they feel there is a need to buy them/they are confident in what they are purchasing. why blame the format (which is part of the problem) when the MUSIC ITSELF is partly to blame too. Too much filler ****.

People need to come out with good quality music, and not being assholes and making lazy, bland, and boring music just because it's easier and a lot of people don't give a crap.
That's why music has sucked. All the bands that I thought could possibly come out with great albums came out with an album with a great first single, and a completely boring album (Ex. Weezer, Linkin Park, Avenged Sevenfold, Shinedown, The Offspring, etc.). Bands are becoming more and more modern to the point that nothing's enjoyable. It's all bland (I find myself liking Hinder's new song even though I hate them).
Also on a side note. Downloads don't mean **** anymore. If one song costs a dollar but a ringtone costs 3 dollars and more people are buying the ringtones, **** the downloads then.

Ok, so if that's the case. What did Lil' Wayne do beforehand compared to the rest of artists out there??
From what I remember, didn't he like release up to 4 singles before the album came out and they became minor radio hits (since they weren't officially sent out to radios)? (Also weren't they on iTunes too? I remember seeing some Lil' Wayne tracks in the top 100 at some point...)
If that's the case, then why don't people do that? If an artist takes that route and releases up to 4 single per say before the album release, wouldn't that get buyers attention to go out and buy the album knowing they like at least 4 singles off of it? Then when the first single is released, it also brings in new listeners.

^ In the past year he has released quite literally a mountain of free music available to his fans. He's built up a fan base himself and is reaping the benefits in CD sales. I don't even like Lil' Wayne's music, yet I support and respect him as what I view one of the hardest working artists out there today. That's what we need more of.
