Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Pínk...all of them make GENERIC POP MUSIC. But unlike some other popstars, whose generic music is bad and not liked by the GP, Katy´s generic music is sincere and not trying to be anything else, so it connects with the audiences.

Some people prefer innovative/limit pushing music, some people don't like to listen to the same thing from the same artist for over 3 albums....
What kind of question is this anyway? Why would anyone want to be generic? That alone is a insult...generic....cheap....basic....plain.....
Generic is just not a good thing to be

They're just jealous of her success. Especially the Monsters.

I actually don't care if people choose to listen to Katy Perry, but I don't find her music to be of good quality. If you love her you love her, but her music is what it is: thoughtless, fun, and cheap. I don't think anyone should be prosecuted for enjoying music though.
And to be clear, some types generic songs can work well. California Girls is generic, but it is a nice pop song! Not meant to be taken seriously but it is still fun. Part of Me is generic is bad.
However at least Katy doesn't make generic music while claiming it is revolutionary.

Because shes successful, regardless if the music is "generic" her fans like it, if you dont then dont buy it and from what it looks like,a lot of other ppl seem to like her music as well

Because there is demand for Katy music every year. I mean, that's pretty impressive for an artist who is "replaceable".

It's not even worth it to dislike her anymore.
If she happens to release some bad music, just say you don't like it, and move on with your day.
She's using the tools the execs throw at her, so, ya can't blame her for picking out her favorites.

For the most part when the person that someone stans isn't as successful as Katy or at least not anymore then you have to nitpick. Her music is fine and she's doing her thing. As long she's making music she is happy with I honestly don't see the problem
A lot of artists make generic music even artists who has stans that think they don't, but not everyone smashes with it. People like Katy.. yes they buy her music because its catchy and you can actually understand what she's saying, but that's not the only reason she sells so much its because she's also a relateable person

Every successful artist gets hate. If they can't call you a try-hard, they'll call you generic.

there's nothing sincere about Katy's music at this point. It's pretty redundant. I can understand the GP not caring about the sincerity of a song and such and just wanting a fun song to listen to no matter how unauthentic and non-innovative it is, but don't dress it up as sincere and honest.

But didn't Katy Perry replace Lady Gaga as the top female artist WW and nobody cared? Hasn't it happened a million times before, since the dawn of pop culture? How can you guess that Katy Perry won't be remembered when she just took her spot on top?

Partly because she's successful & partly because people on ATRL find it boring that she rarely experiments. But the GP love it & it makes her that $$$$$$

Pretty much.
It has nothing to do with jealousy, honestly. I don't know why people are suggesting that as a reason.
Have a serious look at the woman, listen to her songs and read her lyrics. I actually like her. Let me not drag.

What's wrong if your music is not innovative?
U're useless.Of course you can be funny, catchy and adorable like Katy. But without you nobody would notice the difference. You're just a copying someone else's work.
I think that's why they call her basic. It may work commercially, but don't call it Art.
(no shade intended,I was just following your argument)

What is wrong with "generic" music? What's wrong with a song that has a great beat and relatable lyrics that many can relate/connect too? I would rather listen to a song like that than hear a song that has this super deep meaning that no one can understand.

Opinions, its debatable really. You might not find it sincere but theres ton of other ppl that probably do, you cant pick and choose what is sincere and what isnt & claim it. You can just go by your opinion so in your opinion her music is not sincere
