Nope. The song is over. She might as well just end the era.

iTunes should be enough of an indicator. Plus most people are pretty in tune with pop culture. Especially with the internet and social media sharing (friends sharing the video on facebook, Gaga tweeting about it etc) Plus so many people nowadays check TMZ, DailyMail, PerezHilton daily. So they've seen the video. It's not like it's going to suddenly hit radio and people are going to be like "woah! What's this? A new Gaga song? Wow! That's great! I'm gonna go download it!"
The only people who aren't entirely on top of pop culture are parents of young kids who only listen to FM radio because their kids have it on. They seem to be the only "late adopters" of pop music and pick up on songs once they've gained momentum on the radio (given that they're catchy enough). In about 6-8 weeks, even dorky middle-aged parents will be singing Katy Perry's 'Birthday' in their car. G.U.Y though? Definitely not.
People are acting like the general public aren't aware of G.U.Y because it hasn't impacted radio. People know it's out there. They've heard it. They've seen the video. It's just not connecting. It's not relatable. And it's not that catchy.

"G.U.Y." is extremely catchy with a hot beat and lyrics about sex. Those are the makings of at least 50% of all hit pop songs. The ones in here claiming this was a terrible choice must have felt the same way about "Poker Face" and "LoveGame" too? Just face the music, this was the best option on the album save for "Gypsy" and it's still flopping hard.

Probably. This isnt like a You're Mine Eternal situation where it fell off the top 1500 of Itunes in two days. Somebody is liking and buying the song

No, like the above poster said, plenty of people know it's out already. It's just not connecting now and it won't connect with people when they start hearing it on the radio either. The best case scenario here is it being a hit on pop radio but still next to nothing on iTunes and streaming, like Neon Lights.

!!!
They're blaming the song but it's not the reason at all. It's the confusing music video release with 4 songs.

If it was such an easy formula, every pop song about sex would catch on. It's not 2009 anymore and Gaga is not drawing the attention she used to.
And if you can't see the difference between the context or the catchiness of classics like LoveGame or PF versus a lackluster GUY, your Stan goggles are blinding you.

I find it odd that monsters were stanning so hard for G.U.Y to be a single, and were stanning even harder during it's prerelease and video hype, saying "yesss, this is going to slayyyy" and now that it hasn't, a lot of people seem to be saying "bad single choice, should have gone with Sexxx Dreams/Swine/MANiCURE/Donatella/Venus/Gypsy."
Like it or not, bobbymfw is right, G.U.Y is one of the better options for a single.
The problem is, ARTPOP is quite monotonous in the fact that all the songs are of a similar quality. There's no "highs and lows" (except Jewels and Drugs and Dope, which in my opinion are both lows). But monsters take this to mean that because all the songs on the album are of a similar quality/production sound, then it must mean that the whole album "slayyyysss mama" when in actuality (in my opinion) it just means that there aren't any stand-outs on the album. For example, with Prism, EVERYONE (stans, fans and haters) all knew the second they heard it that Birthday and This Is How We Do are/would be singles. They're stand-outs on an already great pop record.
With ARTPOP, it seems like everyone is scrambling to choose the singles and can't make up their minds. Monsters, fans, Interscope and Gaga herself. It shouldn't be this hard to pick singles. Nor should it result in this many arguments over it within the base. Singles should be so obvious they stick out like a sore thumb and NOT "mmmm....we're gonna go withhhhh..."

What did you fix?
edit: oh, I see hahahahha. Regardless, PRISM has stand-outs and strong singles contenders. With ARTPOP it's more pick-and-choose. It's not obvious and it should be.

I don't like your tone at all tbh
Why wouldn't fans of a pop star stan for their next single? Why wouldn't they want it to do well?
It certainly wasn't everyone's go to single until she announced that it would be. Before that there was all kinds of arguing about what should be next.
Every base says "It's gonna slay!!!" if it's their fave but that wasn't the consensus of all the fans. Many of us thought it would not do well and that nothing this era will.
I think and have always thought that Gypsy is the best chance at a hit left but at this stage I also think that even that could easily flop. I will still stan for whatever she releases and hope it does well and maybe something will.
Your opinion of artpop all sounding the same is just that and everyone has faves from the album, even people here who hated most of it like some of the songs.
Also half of ATRL (including me) hates Birthday and TIHWD because they are the some of the worst songs on prism. The reason why people think they might be singles is because they sound generic and radio friendly but they aren't really standouts at all.
The standouts on prism are probably LL, DH and maybe WOA. As I said everyone has a different opinion of Artpop but why is that bad? You have your opinion about GUY being a good choiuce and I agree.
Applause, DWUW, GYPSY, GUY = Most radio friendly songs on Artpop. Probably the best choices for singles.

This is entirely not true.
In fact, most teenagers of our age are not into pop music/pop culture, at all.
