Well for one it's actually 5 Grammy's and two, Say Something isn't a feature. It's credited as A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera. It's more of a trio situation. Anyway, Christina Aguilera will go down as one of the best voices in the industry. People don't give her credit here because they stan for basics who worry more about charting than anything.
Christina has been consistently ahead of the newest generation of pop girls on issues like feminism, gay rights, expressing sexuality unashamed, and equality for all. So people can sit here and say Christina hasn't changed the industry but she's a standard. She's a standard that people look to and there is a reason that despite her so called features she is still charting highly today. No one knew who the **** A Great Big World were until Christina put them on the map and that's the tea. People just don't want to recognize that a little 5'2" girl from Staten Island has got it going on.
Apparently 46 million albums sold, multiple top ten hits all around the world, four (five) Grammys and other awards, being recognized as one of the best voices ever, and having influenced multiple singers (specially vocal wise) all around the world for more than a decade is not enough. They say she's always been overshadowed, so only the accomplishments of those who were "at the absolute top" for an specific time are then only ones that count? She's no longer successful, I wasn't aware your accomplishment mean nothing the minute you stop having commercial success.
What's funny it's that only the gay men obsessed with stanning are the ones that seem to constantly underestimate her career and what she's achieved. She gets praise and recognition from the GP and industry legends/peers. I wonder what they will think once the acts they stan for will struggle commercially wise cause most of them are talentless. It'll be a hilarious escenario for sure.
With all do respect and not pointing fingers at anybody, some Midwestern housewives and homosexuals on message boards and blogs aren't relevant or representative of the worlds' views on Christina. I'm not being boastful for my fave, but as a stan who tracks and follows all surrounding Christina, I do see a lot more praise in her career than hate. Especially her voice. It can be the exact opposite on anonymous message boards such as this one. Especially in latest years of her career which are mediocre compared to how she started, it's easy to "throw shade" and ridicule her.
She'll always have haters ready to grab on whatever stick passes by, but regardless of future events, she'll always get praise too.
I think you ladies is getting media attention mixed with accomplishments and sells. Because, lets face facts, Xtina always worked extra hard to stay out of the media, hence all those breaks she took. When it comes to sells and achievements, Xtina was one of the top bitches in the 2000s. Her and Madonna sold the most singles that decade. Two of Xtina's album sold more than most of your faves 8 combined albums. So, ATRL's opinion on Xtina's achievements really mean nothing. And TBH, no one should be coming for Xtina when most of your faves flopped to hell and back last year.
I actually feel like she has been overrated recently. People act like Feel This Moment and Say Something are her songs, even though she is a feature act. Britney and Gaga have gotten a lot more flack for having one flop album compared to how much flack Christina got for two flop albums. It seems like she got off pretty easy, especially with Lotus.
I do think that some of her old material (especially Back to Basics) is underrated.
I'm surprise people still take this site serious, especially all the flops from 2013. Do you really care what someone with a SN like Buba says? I mean...
Atrl takes credit away from Britney who had hit singles in 2011 and 2013 with will.i.am.
Atrl takes credit away from Katy Perry who keeps getting hit after hit so this is not surprising since miss X hadn't had a solo hit since 2008.
I don't understand this 'she was always overshadowed' excuse. So to get any credit or respect you have to be on the absolute top 24/7? Even though Christina was second behind Britney, that's still miles ahead of all the other pop girls that came out at the same time. Other girls could only dream of reaching Christina's success. I mean her debut sold 9 million in the US alone, had 3 number ones on it (more then Britney ever had on one album), she got the grammys, she has the vocal talent, she's always stood up for equality whether it be gender equality, sexuality equality, race equality, etc. You say she's only had success for a limited time but it's been 15 years and she's still relevant (even after two flop albums), still talked about, still respected, still getting paid millions just to show up someplace, still looked up to as a standard for vocals. If you want to discredit her completely because she's not selling millions of albums currently after having already sold 50 million, then that's just dumb and you're making yourself look dumb for hiding behind that excuse.
^^ That 2nd to Brit part's bull. If that was the case Britney would've won Best New Artist at Grammy Awards, own 3 years instead of 1 to top X owning 2, be doing better than X right now, etc, etc, etc. X made a name for herself at the head of the pack as a mega successful, and talented vocalist.
I've been asking this for a long time. Calling Xtina a flop and refusing to recognize her amazing accomplishments just because her latest eras didnt do well. It's pathetic.
Because when she was actually successful, she was overshadowed. Now she's just a features artist. I mean, her accomplishments are still good, but I don't think she's that memorable of an artist.
Give her more credit for what? I think people do give her credit for her great voice, and that she's had hits/high selling albums. But some of her stans do way too much. She's a successful and talented singer. But in my view that's all she is.
Maybe because she's one of the few artist to have #1s in 3 different decades.
Had 3 #1 singles off of her debut album, sold over 50m albums.
Is the only artist in history to have both an English and Spanish album top the charts.
Won 5 Grammys and currently named one of the most INFLUENTIAL people in the world.
And to end on a cute note after 15 years in her career still topping the charts with Say Something.
Oh and she's drop dead gorgeous, I mean I could keep going
