2NE1 has always been stronger in singles than SNSD. That's really not a surprise. SNSD move two and three times the amount of albums in Korea, though. And with an EP costing 15 dollars, it really makes up for the lack of 50 cent downloads.
SNSD released on Monday (6 days to chart)
2NE1 released on Thursday (3 days to chart)
I think 2NE1 won this battle.
2NE1 also do better in the USA:
#61 on Billboard 200 for 2NE1 vs #110 for SNSD even though SNSD have more days to chart on Billboard 200.
LOL SNSD did almost 85k albums first week. This EP is going to outsell every 2NE1 release, despite 2NE1 albums generally having multiple singles. While 2NE1 may be bigger single sellers, it is solely because people take the time to buy an SNSD album or two.

The only people that buy physical albums in korea are stans or old people. The GP buys music digitally 'cause it's WAY cheaper and conventional. If people were really interested in SNDS's ALBUM, the group would have more than one song in the top 50 on MelOn, like 2NE1 who has 9 atm.

2NE1 have always been stronger digitally, don't we know that already?
If Katy or Rihanna is slaying like 2NE1, we know for sure certain member won't over it.
Album cost more than single, who truly won the battle? We don't know yet.

Actually, 2NE1's album came out and SNSD came out number 1 for the day on Hanteo.

Who would really buy all of the individual tracks when they're going to buy the album later? And you act like their title track is flopping, despite it following a better trajectory than "I Got a Boy," which went top 20 (?) on the year-end digital charts.

That's not the final daily chart btw. SNSD sold 10,000. 2NE1 was 2nd with 4,300. 2NE1 was 3rd on the first day with under 3446 (CNBlue's 2nd place total) and Mr. Mr. was #1 with 6k.

And yes, they IGAB was 13th on last year's chart.
I love your dedication to Asian receipts. I've always ignored Hanteo because I trust Gaon more, but it's nice to know SNSD are still doing well there, too.
And yay for IGAB I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one who loved the song.
