People can't stand her success. She is the very epitome of a dark horse. NOBODY saw her coming, and now she's turned into the perfect storm, just roaring up the charts effortlessly.
Actually, only ATRL really underestimates her. Because this is a forum of stans, and Katy obviously had very little stans from the very beginning, and her career heavily relied on the GP. She gets underestimated here, but gets quite the audience and distinction outside of these silly fan bases.

This is not a credible source It's basically reporting what her label reported, which is shipments, not sales. Her albums shipped 11 million copies. That doesn't mean that 11 million people bought them, One of The Boys has sold 3 million copies according to Mediatraffic and this is a widely-accepted fact.

All publications, including Billboard, report label numbers (which are shipments) when mentioning total worldwide sales. Credible sources are like IFPI and Mediatraffic. Sources that actually track sales.

Because even though her singles have been extremely successful, she still isn't a great album seller, or a Grammy winner, or a good live singer, or a talented performer, or a touring force, and her image is very childish. Her talent and impact don't match her chart positions.
