I guess because he has fans from both genders. With Bey, everyone loves ha looks but most males would be embarrassed to own ha music, and especially with Madonna. Plus, older generations like him because his music gives throwback teas and they love that.
I do see truth in this. It being a reason for appealing to a larger audience.
With a limited back catalogue the iTunes effect isn't spread nearly as thinly as Madonna and Beyoncé's.
This is a good point. Plus Beyoncé didn't have any new material out and was practically dead for a year. Madonna was past her peak, though MDNA was beginning.
