Nope. In my opinion, Ms. Musgraves' sound is much different than Ms. Swift's. Ms. Musgraves' sound is more of a traditional country sound, while Ms. Swift's possesses more pop sensibilities. They're both great artists in my opinion.

Kacey has 1 single that went Gold and that's it. Country Radio is not here for Kacey. Taylor's album has sold more than TWELVE times Kacey's album in the US alone. The Country Music GP is not really buying Kacey's music. It seems strange to say that while her album is currently well placed on iTunes due to the Grammy's effect, but it's true.

It's taken Kacey 10 months to sell 300,000 copies. Not sure how that compares to Taylor selling 4 million copies in the US in 15 months and 6 million WW. I know Kacey is regarded as a new artist, but she was on all the major Country Music Awards shows last year, performing, getting nominations and awards. So everyone who pays attention to Country Music has been aware of her. And yet no-one has been buying her album. It's pretty weird. I like Kacey but I think she has struggled to create a sizeable fanbase so far.

The only reason Taylor is mentioned in the article is because she is well-known female Country Music artist and thus a reference point. The media will probably try and make it a rivalry between the two women, but the reality is they are actually friends.

Kacey is more like the new Miranda Lambert. Both Miranda and Kacey are female Country singer-songwriters who also got their break on the Nashville Star reality TV show.

Taylor's situation is very different, she joined a new independent record label at 15 and found huge success at 16 with her first singles penned by herself.

Everybody needs to start somewhere. It's rare for an artist to absolutely smash as a new artist with their debut.
