Mariah Carey's last album The Emancipation of Mimi was the breakout hit of 2005 selling more than 5 million copies (in the U.S. alone). For the follow-up, she's hewing close to Mimi's glossy, club-ready sound, with beats from Jermaine Dupri, Stargate, Bryan Michael Cox and Will.i.am. "Seriously, I can't wait to put this record out," says Carey. "I'm in the studio day and night trying to cook it to perfection. If the last album was dinner, treat this as dessert."

Some people are too stupid to realize that Mariah doesn't have to do pop/rock to prove her talent or make decent music. Her voice is her magic. And people tend to buy her albums because they want to hear a voice that none of the "modern" artists have 0.327873% of it.

From quick p/d, it seems Britney will beat out Mariah, I mean come on just because her comeback was HUGE, doesn't mean it'll just lead on to the next album, although I'm positive it'll be successful. But everyone has been waiting for Britney and with "Gimme More" already top 30 on radio and not slowing down, and with the VMA performance, which we know will be HOT/exciting, there's no way she won't get the #1 album and huge sales.
As far as Celine, she's good but I doubt she'll get mainstream success with her new album. Madonna won't live up to the success of Mariah/Britney, maybe close.
Add on Britney (11.13) / Mariah (11.20). So Britney will debut #1, then the next week Mimi will most likely top the charts but Brit will be close behind.
I just know that these next couple of months are gonna be great times to have a personal countdown. I mean, IMO, there really hasn't been anything musically recently that can rival Britney or Mariah. I wake up every morning anxious to see how many spins Britney has at radio. Britney scores the highest debut in my chart's history this week. (This was a record that was held by JT since 2006 with "Chop Me Up.") I live and breathe this song, and when it's over, I say "Gimme More." That's the way I felt about Mariah's "TEOM." This is just great music, almost hypnotizing. I can't wait for Mariah's new single. I am ready to have both Brit and Mimi in my top 5.
