After a mild disappointment with MAYA, M.I.A. really returned to form with this one. She's as insane, challenging, and aggressive as ever, and I love every second of it. I was worried she'd never match Arular and KALA again, and she put my fears to rest. Another classic for one of the baddest chicks to ever do it. I think this album cements her as one of the all-time great female MCs. Choice cuts:
I ain't forcing that abomination of a music video on you so hear me out. This was absolutely the most brilliant move Miley could have played. Everyone was expecting more insanity and ****ery, and she throws out...one hell of a power-ballad. A total switch up. And honestly, it's a really, really good ballad, and I kind of despise pop-ballads as a whole. Total ear worm, just emotional enough, fantastic production, doesn't sound like anything else right now, and sonically it really matches the lyrical theme.
I kind of liked it more when I thought she was singing "All I wanted was to breeeaak you offfff" tho.
Too bad #MIDTEMPOZ only delivered one other good track, the stellar Adore You, which has now also been ruined by its video
