The truth of the matter (in America anyway) is that white skin, blue eyes, and blonde hair is soften seen as the standard of beauty. So, the closer you are to that standard (i.e. blacks with lighter skin) then the more attractive or "pretty" you are. Dark skin, nappy hair, big noses and lips (not saying these are attributes of all dark skin black men/women) are not seen as beautiful for whatever reason.
It is a way of thinking that has plagued black communities for years and continues to plague us because we don't see many positive representations of black beauty in the media relative to the amount of "white beauty" we are fed.
Black is black I don't understand why people can't digest that .. Honestly this kinda thing dates back to slavery .. Light skinned slaves were in the house while the dark skinned ones were outside in the fields
I dont get this debate thing, like hispanics come in all colors as well and we don't have these light skin, dark skin debates
I think it really is only a big thing in America honestly just because of the history of blacks in racist ass America. Hispanics don't come from the same brutal or mental enslavement past in America that blacks were victimized to.
