The debut EP of Sevyn Streeter, is one of great potential. Though only 7 songs short, the project offers seductive R&B and some bop-worthy pop fused R&B jams. The influences of Aaliyah are scattered throughout and do her legacy justive. Sevyn is a talented songwriter and singer and laid a solid platform to launch her promising solo R&B career in the future.
Pusha's solo debut flew under the radar, but that doesn't make it any less brilliant. The album being executively produced by Kanye West is ironically a better executed Yeezus. The often dark and visually stunning project contains lyrical tales of his career journey, odes to the rap game, and a couple of hip-hop love songs
But yes I use all 5 albums, Selvin being higher than John is suspect though but her EP slays.
Pop music kind of sucked this year and the only reason why Sevyn is ahead of John is because she has more replay value and I have to be in a certain mood to listen to LITF.
So, I make it no secret that Drake slightly annoys me. Sometimes I feel like he's everything that's wrong with hip-hop. Sometimes I say he's too soft and he sings too much to be taken seriously and to a certain extent I still feel that way; however, Nothing Was the Same is a great hip-hop effort and he shines through and shows his true potential and versatility on many of the tracks. The production is top notch and the lyricism is up to standards. It's the a good hip-hop album with a touch of r&b giving it a laid-back 90's feel.
#9 Disclosure- Settle
So I'm really picky when it comes to electronic music, but Settle is probably one of the best electronic albums I've ever heard. It gets my blood pumping and gets my through my workouts. All of their beats have the perfect accompanying vocals which often give me a soulful, r&b feel. The whole CD is just an ear orgasm full of feel good music.
