Only in this case would I say something in TRL's defense. Although I have no proof, I think that MTV has very little say in when they get to show videos. I believe labels send the videos to MTV and tell them "premiere this between [random date] and [random date]."
I don't think that TRL is that cruel to have Umbrella in the Top 5 with only 2 days left until retirement and purposely screw it... I believe that Def Jam sent them SUAD only a week or two before its premiere, and TRL had no choice but to show it, because as we all know, Rihanna must have something new out right after her current single has peaked.
Does everyone remember when that guy who worked for TRL came to give us updates on the schedule? TRL plans its premieres and first looks far in advance. (BTW, where did that guy go? He seemed to really take in some of our ideas, and he had great knowledge of the cool stuff MTV had planned...)
