Night Time, My Time - Sky Ferreira
The Essential Tracks: 24 Hours, I Blame Myself, You're Not the One, Heavy Metal Heart, I Will
Am I even allowed to post this album cover? Lol anyway, I'm not a huge alternative/rock fan and I've loved Sky for years and always wanted her to deliver a hot electro-pop album but alas that's not what I got. It's alright though because "Night Time, My Time" is a pretty good album. I haven't listened too many times but after waiting all these years for her to serve up an album I knew I had to at least let it place. The first single along with "I Blame Myself" and "Heavy Metal Heart" (that one especially) are easily the album standouts for me. While I don't enjoy a few of the songs sonically, I'm glad that my sis finally got to release an album that she wanted to release and I hope we will get to hear more from her in the future. Oh and that cover is atrocious... so atrocious that it works.

I still haven't heard Night Time, My Time and it's bugging me so much. I really wanted to hear it when it came out but it hasn't happened. But with everyone rating it so highly I'm anticipating it even more.

This Is... - Icona Pop
The Essential Tracks: All Night, In the Stars, On a Roll, Hold On, Light Me Up
I wasn't sold on Icona Pop's single that caught them on fire, "I Love It", but when the second single "All Night" came out I knew I had to check this project out. I found an album full of pop gems, and was pleasantly surprised. A couple of songs are meh-territory ("Girlfriend", and especially the horrific album closer "Then We Kiss") but pretty much everything else is electro-pop joy. It's a short romp but that isn't necessarily a bad thing in my book. If you are looking for a cute pop album make sure you give this one a shot. Just don't expect to hear anything that head over heels in love with. Also the cover is hawt.

Blurred Lines (feat. T.I. & Pharrell) - Robin Thicke
One of the biggest songs of the year and the song that started Pharrell-gate, is also the song that is kicking off my singles countdown. The song just oozes sex and Pharrell did a great job with the beat. T.I.'s verse is pretty standard-faire , but it works. I'm still unure as to how this song took off to the heights that it did, but hey good for him.

High School (feat. Lil Wayne) - Nicki Minaj
This is probably one of my least favorite singles from QUEEN, but it's a bop nevertheless. There really is nothing wrong with the song at all, just nothing outstanding either. Nicki's verses are cute, the instrumental is cute, and Wayne even delivers a nice verse! Actually it may be the best part of the song Nicki looks the hottest she has ever looked in the video as well. Can't wait for 2014nika.

Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe - Kendrick Lamar
This was one of my instant favorites when I first bought Kendrick's album in 2012. I knew this would be a single cause it's just an obvious pick. "Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe" has to be one of the chillest songs I've ever heard. I was just... kind of over it by the time it was released, which is why I don't have it placed very high. In any event, this is one of my favorite Kendrick songs and I can't wait to see what he has cooking up for 2014.
#47
I Wish (feat. T.I.) - Cher Lloyd
It really is mystical how everything Epic touches completely flops. I don't understand it at all, especially since this song just screams smash. Cher definitely delivered here. The beat is amazing and the chorus/melody is mesmerizing. T.I. once again spits a nice little verse. I love the urban feel to the song. Great job with this one, EPIC!
#46
Holy Grail (feat. Justin Timberlake) - JAY Z
I didn't care for "Holy Grail" at all when it first dropped but it grew on me a lot over the course of its chart run. After Justin's long, clunky intro and the beat drops its ON. The production is probably my favorite part of the song because of how hard it hits. Justin does great on the chorus, which gets better as the song goes on. JAY Z did great on his verses as well.

I just can't Kendrick Lamar's voice in that song.
I used to like Blurred Lines, but it got way too overplayed.

Kisses Down Low - Kelly Rowland
Kelly did this. Mike Will KILLED the production, which honestly might be one of my favorite instrumentals of the year. Kelly slays with the attitude. I think I just kind of got over it fast and also the video is a hot ass mess so that's why it's relatively low. Still a great track.

Live For the Night - Krewella
Krewella is one of my favorite discoveries this year, and "Live For the Night" had a lot to do with that. The production is absolutely ace, and I really like the lyrics as well, as basic as they may be. This song really just gives me a lot of energy and it should have done better than it did chart-wise. If you are into pop-leaning EDM make sure you check this gem out and let it grow on you.

I Knew You Were Trouble. - Taylor Swift
This song is hot, what can I say! I remembered the first time I heard this and I was SLAYED up and down when the dubstep break came in omg I'm not the biggest fan of Taylor but there is no denying how insanely well this song was crafted and how unexpected it was that America's little country sweetheart would be fuxing with some dubstep. I love when artists genre cross so it's no wonder I like this so much.
#42
How To Be A Heartbreaker - Marina & the Diamonds
This poor gal. This has got to be one of the most commercial songs (but not generic) ever, but radio said nope to it and that was that. If Katy Perry sang this it would probably be the number one song of the decade But anyways, this song is amazing, Dr. Luke murdered the production as always, and Marina's vocals really add to the song. It's by far one of the best pure pop songs of the year, and one of the catchiest of the year as well.
#41
Brave - Sara Bareilles
SLAY what you wanna SLAY, Sara! "Brave" is a really unconventionally catchy song and I'm so glad it turned into somewhat of a hit for my sis. Definitely one of the best songs with a message that was released this year. I also love the attitude that comes across in her voice, like she's commanding this bitches to stick up for themselves. This better continue to climb the charts!
