It's a shame this is your last Best Of.
But as you said, you've definitely planned to go out with a bang and I can't believe you have a Top 100 albums list. I'm excited for this, I'll definitely be dropping by for updates.
I love the inclusion of a "verdict" for each album. Maybe I can discover a few new albums through this. I'm definitely going to try to keep up with this.
Figured I'd post SOMETHING while you wait. Here's the first set from the "Tracks That Go". There's no countdown for this segment, I'm just sharing some tracks, buzz singles, etc. that I enjoyed.
The actual countdown will begin Friday.
Miley Cyrus "Adore You"
When you look back at how much of a wreck Miley has been this year in 2013, its easy to write her off. But the fact that Miley actually has talent and doesn't have to do all these stunts to get attention is what's sad about the whole thing - people aren't focused on the fact that she can actually sing.
There are only a few bangers on her latest LP but this sappy love song and soon to be third single "Adore You" is certainly one of them. Miley really pulled through with her passion and vocals on this track. The whole vibe of the song gave me "Stacy Barthe" from first listen so I wasn't too surprised to find out she is the woman behind it.
Eminem "Rap God"
I actually hate the post 2002 Eminem and find anything after that utterly repulsive. It's just that his voice is so irritating, I'm sorry to the fans out there. Lord knows I tried SO HARD to hate this man but until recently when I got into his album - which is actually not bad at all. What sparked that interest was the controversial, homophobic track called "Rap God". You can't tell me he didn't wake up Hip-Hop with his rapid fire verses and lyrical mastery for 6-minutes straight. I have to give props where its due and Em went off!
London Grammar "Hey Now"
I discovered this London based trio on some random music website called "Best In new Music" back in December 2012. Initially I thought that although I liked the song I probably wouldn't listen to any of their other material after this, not to mention it took some time for them to actually release more material and I was getting bored. But this year they have been releasing nothing but even stronger songs than "Hey Now" leading up to the release of their LP "If You Wait". There's not much from this band that I don't love now. "Hey Now"'s kind of has a touch of The xx, which is always a plus and the leads (Hannah) voice is so haunting and powerful.
Tennis "Cured of Youth"
Tennis is a indie pop duo and married couple that make a breezy blend of pop and '60s-sounding melodies. For the most part their music is usually mellow but this right here is one of their most dance-able tracks to date. It has a memorable head bopping chorus for sure. I could highlight their whole EP too be quite honest but I'll save that for another time during my album list. "Cured of Youth" can get the spotlight for now.
100-95 Sneak Peek
I'll be posting in your cds more soon, just hold on. Thanks for your comments.
