I'm just not sure why people think that ONLY Gaga thinks that she is a pop "ARTIST". I would love to know why people are so intimidated by the word art. Is your fave not a pop artist either? Aren't rappers artist too? Yeah, she tends to make it over the top, but the shade failed. Both things can coexist which is actually the point of her album
I don't want to make anyone roll their eyes, but I think anyone who writes their own music is an artist. And I think Gaga is so involved in her music, videos, concepts, performances etc. that she definitely deserves the recognition of an "artist". But she's a pop star too.

Judging from the underperformance of Applause and what was played at the itunes festival, I no longer think Pop-star is the right moniker for her. I have a feeling she's heading for the "true artist" route, a la Christina Aguilera.

Still an artist though. As every other pop girl/ pop star. I honestly think that some people take the word art and do too much. Gaga knows what she means. She's just using different references and putting them into her own pop stuff. That doesn't mean that what Ke$ha does is any less artistic. I find Ke$ha to be an artist as well, because she IS one. It may not seem like it but with Gaga working with Marina, I'm almost sure later in Gaga's career she will become more of a "performance" artist.
