In that case, it's Janet. Janet made FAR more impact than any pop artist in the 90s.

Katy, though getting increasingly more global as each day passes, hasn't yet broken enough markets to be deemed queen of the 10s.
Currently, I'd say it's Rihanna. Katy could catch up and Gaga stands a fighting chance if she wins back the GP.

So far cotton candy queen Katy Perry seems to be the queen of the decade.

That entire post is on spot. Mariah owned the 90's. Though Madonna made better music in the 90's, she made the majority of her impact in the 80's, her peak.
I feel like Rihanna will dominate the 10's. However, she needs eras with longevity. These sloppy eras with two hits and the album not even selling 4M WW is not going to cut it. If she keeps up with that, Katy will surpass her.

The delusion of people still trying to push Gaga when she's basically done inspite of the hugest promo in only her third era. She was fading on her second album, then had to make up fake injuries to hide her flop tour. Stop living in 2009.
In real life it's between Rihanna, Katy and Miley or some new artist will emerge.

That's not what the OP meant, but anyway...
Once again giving Madonna way too much, Madonna's not the "blueprint" for every pop girl today when Britney is Janet, Gaga is Bowie, Miley is Britney, etc.
She was crucified for a lot of the 90s. Most of Madonna's "impact" was 80s based.
If you say Madonna is the blueprint for every pop girl today, I can say Mariah is the blueprint for every vocalist today, but once again that's not what the OP meant.

That's the difference between her and Mariah, no man was bigger than her in the 90s.
Mariah sold way more than Madge in the 90s in the US and outside of it. + had more hits, this isn't even debatable.

Probably sales-wise, but Madonna's popularity and impact during those decades was huge.
Mariah couldn't even compete.

This, but in the US mostly. Janet was global, but she did not reach Madonna's level of globalness.
Janet owned the 00's, though, considering she indirectly created youtube

...Because you lived it, right? Popularity obviously translates through sales as well.
Once again the word impact being thrown around not in reference to the 80s = ridiculous. Especially considering nearly every singer today (even the ones who aren't renowned for their voice) are singing in Mariah's stylistic. I'm sure if I ask you about Madonna's 90s impact you're going to point to the sex book...

According to billboard, Beyonce was the female artist of the 2000s. As for the 2010s, it's too soon to call. Things can change in the next 7yrs.

Mariah clearly had the most impact in the 90's. Madonna fell off with Erotica in the beginning of the 90's, whereas Mariah was rising.
Both ladies were the most influential (out of their competition) in their peak, deserving-ly. Both of them are influential in different areas.

Nope. I'm a stan and 80's Madonna is the blueprint. Essentially, in the 90s Madonna was a revolving door from brave, to demure, to a mature woman. Her 80s version is the blueprint, impactful, unafraid, and a MEDIA STORM

Madonna didn't dominate the 80s, Mariah didn't dominate the 90s and Britney didn't dominate the 00s. Ya'll are dumb.
