This is why I somewhat respect Kpop. I don't think dancing is needed, but it's a nice quality that brings back a certain era where there was choreo+pop.
Western popstars are lazy these days.
They don't dance and don't even sound good. That dak horse performance was embarrassing, she wasn't even "dancing" hard and she sounded a mess. There's no fun watching live performance of western pop girls anymore. Even Gaga who used to be a "decent" live performer has been lacking quality.
^ I do think K-Pop acts have far surpassed all the major acts in dancing.
Which is why I need them to crossover!
For the stans who do not think, dancing is important, Why?
None of the big pop stars are amazing vocalist like Mariah or Whitney or overly creative like Cher or Madonna, so why not put more initiative into their dancing?
unless you possess god like dancing abilities like Usher JT or MJ the GP's not gonna care
so why should I?
And yes I stan for mainly artists who can'T dance to save their own lives (I'm looking at you Katy K$ and Rih)
No artist of today is a great technical dancer. They have rhythm and can move to a beat, but none of them are true dancers.
That said, because of Janet and MJ, artists are not full performers unless they dance. But dance, along with singing, has become so watered down that anyone capable of executing an 8 count or a simple phrase can pass as a dancer.
