The only thing this kind of poll tells you is who has more fans on ATRL
As an unbiased observer who (dis)likes both of them equally, I can tell you that the objective answer is Beyoncé ![Lipton 2](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/tea_zps9c3bbac3.gif)

Beyonce is absolutely fabulous. But, I'm gonna have to go with Gaga. It's important to remember that at one point, Gaga was the most popular figure in pop culture. From Bad Romance to Born This Way (the single ![eli's_rhythm](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/eli_zps0932edf9.gif) ) she was untouchable. Therefore, I would say that her career will be more 'iconic' in the long run. Both will be legends though.

Yes, at ONE point.
But, that ship has sailed.

Beyonce WAS DC tho.
Would Gaga be as successful or hyped if she didn't wear Halloween costumes every day?

This is really hard. I think Beyonce has the more iconic career since it includes Destiny's Child. And Bey's legacy is already cemented. But on the other hand, Gaga was one of the most meteoric rises to fame we've seen in a LONG time. She had the world in her hands in 2009/2010. Overall, I say Bey.
Luckily both will be legends (I don't know why people don't already consider Bey a legend).

People have been following Gaga's every move pretty much since her debut.
Beyonce's career was more mellow at the start, so there were less moments seen as "iconic"

I love Gaga, but there is no way she's had a more iconic career than Beyoncé. Maybe in 5-10 years you can say that, but right now I'll go with the artist that stole the spotlight from one of the biggest female R&B groups of all-time, scored numerous solo hits, has performed in countless movies, sang at the president's inauguration, and a Super Bowl halftime show.
But Gaga is well on her way to being one of the most iconic pop artists of the generation.

Let's not. Bey's last top 10 was Telephone, and I definitely do not think her ship has sailed.

Not really. It was quite a local happening. Even Applause has gone top 10 in more countries than Single Ladies.
Anyhow, it's kind of unfair to compare someone who hasn't even been around for 5 years to someone who's been around since the late 90's but I still voted for Gaga.

Gaga has several iconic things, such as the hair bow, meat dress, heel less shoes, and "weird clothing".
She has also achieved more as a solo artist, selling more singles, grossing more, etc.
|
1. All of those things are not iconic, except maybe the weird clothing
2. Just because she has sold a bit more does not make her more iconic.
3. There is so much more to Beyonce than SL and you know that, so stop.

She hasn't left the dock yet,
but "the GP," as you all call them, is clearly not checking for her like they used to.
The quality of the music has also declined.
Gaga is my girl, but pls.
Lez be real.

They're both incredible but it terms of being iconic it's Gaga. Beyonce is more of a legend than an icon. Gaga has had lots of iconic moments throughout her career such as the hair bow, the meat dress, bad romance, monster ball, lightning bolt, whereas Beyonce has a lot fewer. Don't get me wrong Beyonce is also an icon, but in my opinion Gaga is more iconic, she changed pop culture.

I know Gaga perhaps has done more things that are specifically memorable, but I think the answer is still Beyonce. Here's why:
The way I see it, a "career" is a general term for your work as a whole. You could break it down into specifics, but you're not referring to what your entire work represents, you're referring to individual moments of reference. Beyonce's career as a whole is far more iconic because she very much represents the perfect popstar. She's beautiful, she's talented, she can dance, she's kind, she's likeable, she has a high profile husband, etc. After all, an icon must represent something. It's not just about doing crazy things that stick in your mind. As the lead singer of a girl group to solo superstar, Beyonce's career is one that even Lady Gaga made a goal. She is an icon because she set a standard in her industry. She represents that standard. She may have a combination of obvious influences (MJ, Prince, Diana Ross, Tina Turner) but she has managed to take these influences and create her own iconic brand. There simply is not anyone like Beyonce.
Lady Gaga is without a doubt an icon as well, but as her career is based on re-invention and often shock and surprise, I find that it as a whole is less iconic, but more made up of iconic moments. Her career is very easily that of Madonna and David Bowie. So it doesn't necessarily represent anything in particular except the idea of reinvention, but then Madonna is a bigger icon of that. Also the fact that Gaga has been basically mocking the idea of a popstar since her debut, by doing over-the-top things that represent pop music, she is less an icon of pop music itself, but an icon of the idea of pop music.

That's a tough one. Both are actually pretty iconic, so I can't choose.

Beyoncé might be remembered in the US and occasionally in other countries, I am not sure about the other.
