Yes, in terms of success. However, the music seems to be very fresh (the Swinefest snippets). Applause was just a bad single choice.

I think this is the first time I agree with you, Jonny. Personally, I love Applause. So to me as a fan, no I was not disappointed. maybe with its sales, yes.

It's too soon to make this kind of questions.

So disappointing that all of you can't stop talking about it.

Honestly, this part seems backwards to me. From what I saw, her fans hated her VMAs performance watching it, but when it was greeted warmly by everyone else, they too warmed to it, but only then...

I love the imagery, but Applause was disappointing.

Success wise, I've been slightly disappointed. However, I love Applause (both the song and the music video), I loved the VMA performance, I love Gaga's fashion this era, and I've loved her interviews for this era so far. SO overall, I am not disappointed with Gaga's comeback, it's pretty much what I want/expected from her. So atm, ARTPOP >>>> BTW.

On balance, no. The only thing I am disappointed about is the chart performance. Other than that, I have LOVED the fashion, the video, the song and the VMA performance.

commercially, every single one of us should be saying yes. even the haters expected a #1 debut.
But musically, I LOVE Applause. it's not experimental but I love that she succeeded in making a super catchy song theatrical. I LOVE the ARTPOP concept. I love the video. I love the fashion and imagery. I liked the performance.

I don't know, Gaga is an ARTIST, who happens to be a celebrity.
it's all subjective, like the David is just a statue of a dude for me, but for statue aficionados, it's GENIUS

(: firstly thanks for reading - secondly - I have to agree with you... there are people that I would consider more than casual listeners you - they were a little confused and didn't understand the performance, most of the responses I got from them were - It was interesting, but didn't understand it , , and I asked people would can rant off lyrics off of any record to ANY song - and they understood.... Idk
based on a lot of the responses on here, it's 50/50 really - a lot of people like it and a lot are more realistic and say it's too soon to tell I mean, it has been doing well though - it's peaking at four on BB-100 and well, itunes is kinda ehhh for me you know... so yeah.

Why we acting like Applause wasn't gonna be a reject and like the second single isn't where it's at?

Hi, I'm TREM (:
oh RE: David
It was more about proving a point and less about the actual statement.

See, statements like this assume that literally every Gaga fan liked the performance when it's clearly not the case. I've been a fan of hers since 2008, I understood the concept but I still thought it was poorly executed. Some of y'all need to stop with the "you don't understand her art, it's too complex for your simple minds" explanations. Not only does it make you sound like a cliché little monster, you're not leaving any room for other Gaga fans to not always like her art.
And to answer the OP, the era has JUST started. Way too early to make a declaration on how good or bad her "comeback" (did she go anywhere?) is.

Nope, everything has been really satisfying for me so far. Every bit of music we've heard, all the imagery, etc. are all great
