I don't know why Adele and Jessie J are the only two British vocalists on this poll. Ellie Goulding and Emeli Sandé sing rings around the both of them.
Ellie Goulding has the best falsetto and head voice I've ever heard
Emeli Sandé is the best chest to head/head to chest mixer I've ever heard.
And has anyone even heard Natasha Bedingfield sing? She's British!
Technically, Jessie is better. However, ADELE is one of the pop girls who has clear understanding of the capacity of her voice and is rarely seen trying to force a note.
Jessie J ruins any talent she has by oversinging like there's no tomorrow.
She may have an amazing set of pipes and be technically more agile than Adele, but the fact she rarely sings without doing riffs every damn note makes her almost unbearable to listen to.
Adele on the other hand somehow manages to infuse so much power and tone with every note, and can write songs which put her voice to full use without sounding like she's trying too hard.
Adele.
Just because you find it annoying does not mean it isn't technically good. And Adele could never.
P.S Someone should do a Jessie J vs. Xtina thread.

Ellie has one of thinnest voices ever and her control wavers too much. Plus there' s like no power behind it.

Doesn't need to be. She has a unique and original voice that is very well trained in the Soprano upper extremes. Listen to her sing a song called Atlantis. The entire thing is in falsetto and head voice. She clearly has skill unlike most even if she's not a very technically powerful singer.
Edit: Since when are only powerhouses credited as "great vocalists". That's ********. There are many different types of vocalists with different techniques. Why should they not be great at their technique and therefore be classed as a great vocalist? Plus if you have that distinction on a singer you clearly don't reckon much to Broadway vocalists who are aguably the BEST kind of vocalists because they are relentless in vocal endurance as they have to sing every night!
Everybody who says Adele for any reason besides Jessie sometimes oversinging her songs is truly delusional. Jessie J is the more talented and actually tries different styles (ballads, up-beat songs, dance songs) and I can really relate to Jessie J (Who You Are & Who's Laughing Now).
Jessie J clearly. Adele just knows how to make the most use out of her limited range by singing easier songs that are written for her range. She's only a 2 octave vocalist. Jessie J is 3 octaves, 2 notes. Jessie J is capable of much more potential than Adele will ever be.
Edit: Does singing pretty break-up ballads with the most repetitive chords count as better singing? Adele can emote but so can many others, including Jessie J with a much wider range and vocal advantage.
Edit: Hell even my fave is better than Adele vocally.
Adele ***** all over Jessie and Demi's shrill, uneventful voice. Miley is better than Demi.
Adele is able to use her limited voice better than Jessie uses her wider range. Adele can convey a lot of emotion and in my opinon, has a much nicer tone.
I can't @ some people saying Adele has a limited range. Being over dramatic and over the top with you doesn't automatically make you a better vocalist.
Soul singers are known for toned down, controlled vocals.
Jessie J she has the most amazing voice in the industry her voice so weird and so expectional, and she controls it very good of course she has a better range than Adele! Though Adele is pretty good!

Not in this world. Demi's shrill? Uneventful? Miley is better than Demi?
Demi is a Kelly Clarkson level vocalist. And I ain't the only one who has said that. Somebody much more critically acclaimed than I in the music industry did!

I just listened to Atlantis and I admit that takes a lot of skill and is really impressive, but Ellie is trumped in almost all other areas by other vocalists.
