So he's black and gay so? doesn't mean a damn thing to others who are the same i don't identity with him whatsoever.
What he is saving only makes up a certain percentage of black youth i find it interesting how he isn't taking note of the good things black youths are trying to accomplish. I see whats really going on and he can keep that.
While i do understand you should act the right way and all that trayvon could have been wearing a suit and he still would have been followed.

Mess that only says they are better off than the country as a whole, no mention of Asians compared to whites
Whites are still tops in income and college admissions by far

If you're Asian it has been proven that you need to get higher grades than whites to get into Uni but there's no racism against Asians (which is what you're implying)? Sit down

On average they earn more than white families and are better educated to boot. And most of them are first-generation, meaning either they were born in Asia, or they are the first generation to be born in the United States.
And Asians make up 6% of the population, but roughly 25-30% of the population at Ivy League and Elite Universities, including 50%+ at the University of California Berkeley.
food for thought. I find it fascinating that Chinese, Indian, Japanese, etc people can maintain their own cultures, but still assimilate so well.
or they're not driving taxis and selling potatoes like they use to I meant to say they are basically just white people now, instead of being seen as a lower minority.

Ffff. For starters, you do realise that like 80% of Asians in American university's ESPECIALLY in the unis u listed above are flown over from Asia, given free intuitituon, just to make the grades of he uni look good. Most of time, the Asians go back to their country as soon as the finish uni. Most of these stats are super irrelevant to your point.

If you think about it, model minorities like the Asians currently, and the Jewish and the Irish in the past, managed to break ahead and get to the top of the food chain by blending in and working hard. If there was really so much "white power" stuff, you wouldn't have Asian people being the highest earning race in America. And you wouldn't have any successful black people at all.

Noooo
You had a point then you hit that and **** went south.
Jews have been hated and killed since christianity was born up until, during and bit after the medieval era as well as the WWII Asian talk tho, really, they are there not because of how they dress because they don't bother no ****ing body!!
edit: waitttt he meant asians in america....
:aah: I love how you're combatting one stereotypical comment about the black race (all blacks sag or w/e )with another stereotypical statement (asians dress well/are smart/earn a lot)
THIS IS A DAMN MESS

You do know the only reason Asians need to score higher is because Affirmative Action works AGAINST them right? That's the only reason why the UC's best schools are MAJORITY asian. Because they did AWAY with AA and found out that Asian kids ended up displacing white, black, and hispanics
And I really doubt the average white person's income is higher there is dirt poor white and rich white. I've rarely seen poor Asian in this country.

Most schools count them separately. One for Asian-Americans. And then a separate category for International
http://www.provost.harvard.edu/insti...010-11_web.pdf
^^ SourcevPage 10 from harvard
They separate "Asian" and "international" into two separate grups.
But you're right most of the internationals are Asian.

Since when were Jewish people oppressed in the United States? Aren't most of the Jews here rich and White? Irish people are White. I don't care what minor discrimination they suffered as immigrants coming to the United States. It does not compare to that which African-Americans suffered. They were ALWAYS ON TOP of the American food chain.
The fact that you don't think White supremacy is a huge problem proves that it is a problem.
Asian people are not more successful or powerful than White people here in this country no matter what statistics you post.

First off no they aren't given free tuition. In fact, International Students are not allowed to get grant money or financial aid legally. They pay full tuition. I know this because going to NYU, it was filled with rich International b***hes paying 55k in cash
Second, most colleges, especially the top ones, separate International Applicants and the ones applying from within the U.S. It's sort of a loophole for letting in more Asian students without breaking AA limits
And most of the International students I knew ended up getting pretty good jobs here in the U.S. and applied for green cards/citizenship.

Umm. I don't know what context he brought it up in as there is an appropriate time and place for everything, but removed from the Trayvon Martin case, his sentiments about the need for young black males to stop dressing like thugs, dropping the "N" word, committing crimes, etc are right.
At 13% of the population, anything one of us does is magnified and reflects greatly on our community.

So there's no question when whites sag their pants or wear hoodies but when blacks do it it's justification for getting gunned down in the street? Ah. I see.

Fine, but these "problems" with improper dress, improper speech, and crime, occur among many racial/ethnic groups - not just Blacks/African-Americans. Every community has its 'bad apples'. The fact that these things are inherently associated with US and that people still fail to understand that we are not all the same = racism.

1) Jews: Yeah, I'm talking about in America. And this is also to combat the other point about Jews always having been on top: um...no they weren't. pre 1960s, everything was WASP central. Even looking Jewish, despite good education, etc was enough reason to not hire you. Downtown NYC stock/law firms only picked the typical connected blonde-blue-eyed Harvard man. It wasn't until things changed, the economics of Wall Street changed, that lots of Jews started making it big here in the U.S.
2) Asians: yes, it's kinda weird comparing two different races, but they are both minorities here in the United States. In many cases, Asians come into this country with less money and knowledge of the language than the black minority. I'm just saying that the "model minority" argument reflects what Don Lemon is saying: Get an Education, Dress well, Stop getting arrested, put your heads down and work for the money.

It seems to be a bigger problem with the black community because black culture, which is also incredibly popular, and the most influential of the minority cultures, inspires young black men and women to imitate the styles of hood-dressing that they portray.
So while every culture has it's bad apples, they aren't being glamorized in music videos, inspiring millions of young black boys to want to sag their pants and be a pimp/thug
