Only those of Gagas albums that amazon bought were counted that were actually bought by consumers - it's not like amazon had bought a few hundred thousands of albums and those were counted before actually being sold.

They obtained them for a deal / marketing scheme, not because they wanted to purchase and listen to them. As someone already said, it'd be like counting the albums shipped to retailers.

Well, this will just count as 1 million shipped to Samsung + whatever is shipped to other stores. It's platinum already even if those sales aren't counted in Soundscan. So, does this mean that if Jay-Z sells 500k total without the Samsung sales, his album could still be certified say, 2x Platinum?
