Do you even believe this? J-Lo was clearly far more appealing than Mariah or Nicki. Both of them are black but neither give them the additional demographic that a black star might; neither of them was well-received like J-Lo; and neither of them has seen even a tiny particle of relevance since joining the show.
J-Lo joined the show, released one of the biggest worldwide hits of the year, the most-viewed female video of all-time, was pretty much universally loved by viewers, and I would assume brought a much more diverse demographic.
