This 2012 RIAA data denotes how streaming is really taking off (up 59% from 2011). And it will only increase in importance in the future as Apple, Google and Amazon launch their streaming service.

Singles Download: $1,623.6 million USD (up 6.7%)
Album Download: $1,204.8 million USD (up 12.5%)
Physical CD Album: $2,532 million USD (down 18.3%)

At the same rate of growth, streaming will surpass singles download in about 10 months time. (February of 2014).

I don't think PSY will get #1, if his song is still on iTunes top 10 then things will have looked better for him.

This just shows streaming counts too much. A song could debut at #1 with streaming only if it's high enough (above 20 million YT views).

20 million USA Youtube views in a given week is not easy. That's about 120 million worldwide views in a given week. How many MV have achieve that? Gangnam Style at its peak didn't reach 100 million views in a week.

p.s. Even One Direction MV could only get 4-5 million USA Youtube views when it was released.
