Because those all are filled up of three kinds of people: 1) gay men who define the words pathetic and sad, 3) smug straights who applaud themselves for daring to try to understand another person's point of view, and 3) lesbians. Clearly those three groups occupy the three lowest rings of hell, yes?

Haha ouch, regular clubs are just as depressing looking often lol. Gay clubs are hardly that bad, been a few times...just like any other bar it's a fun place to go with a group and drink/dance or whatever. Meh. 'Clubs' are not my scene at all anyway, but bars are alright.

I've never been to a club? (I hope that came off as cute and shy, and not unneccesarily bitchy.) I meant those gays that are just so depressing and lame and awful. (I have some of that, and so I try to avoid those that are drenched in it?)

Uh. C'mon. Did you really think I was being serious? Whenever I use a sad smiley face, it pretty much means I was either a) making a joke, b) not being serious.

In this case, many gays try to impress the straights because they want to be accepted, becauser deep down they don't accept themselves. So they look for the majority's approval, while hating those that they're most alike. It's all very deep, and the weird thing was I didn't see it all until I read some posts by a militant homo at Oscarwatch? LFR.

Alright, George W. Hitler. You're right. It doesn't make you homophobic... just IGNORANT. Justin, you are a F^CKING ******! How are you gonna come here and tell me that you don't resepect my lifestyle WHEN YOU YOURSELF ARE A DIRTY COCKSUCKER. Listen up, what makes me so upset is that you seem to contradict everything that you stand for. You're gay. I'm gay, so why are you trying to deny me? We're supposed to be there for each other, not oppress your fellow gay man because he is less masculine. We are all we have.
It's just funny because I seriously am starting to believe that the only reason why you want to be as "masculine" as possible is because you WANT to be accepted. Nobody likes ****, blah blah blah. Well guess what, people LOVE me not because I'm gay, but because I'm a good person and I have a big heart. I'm willing to stand up for what I believe in, and not falter and succumb to other people's beliefs. Sorry Justin, but I choose to be true to myself. I'm not gonna change myself to be more "masculine" just to be "accepted" and make you or other people happy.
You're a walking contradiction. Hypocrite. Nobody likes a fake.
Sometimes, I wonder why people like you...

Stop acting like you know me, and stop getting pissy. Jesus. Like I said, homsexualiy is a preference not a lifestyle. I'm accepted in my community, theres no reason why I would want to be masculine to be accepted since I'm already accepted by my friends.
These personal attacks are uncalled for since I never once said something personal about you. Nobody's asking you to change. AND I ----ING TOLD YOU I RESPECTED YOU AS A GAY PERSON. You keep ----ing confusing that with the way you view homsexuality.

I think that every gay man (myself included) goes through the stage when they do try and act straight to try and fit in, i'm not fully out yet but i've completely passed that stage, i act myself all the time, i wouldn't say i was particularly feminine but you probably would be able to guess i was gay if you met me. I think its difficult for gay men to find out who they really are, this is mainly due to the fact that theres so many social pressures to fit in with what society thinks you should be like. One of my best friends is gay and hes out and he gets so annoyed as being referred to as the 'gay' one. People find it hard to try and work out who you are because they believe that all your actions are because you are gay (you being plural, no one imparticular). When it comes down to it, the reason that gay people aren't accepted is because of stereotypes, people don't like the gay stereotype, only a small majority of gay people actually fit this stereotype but they are the ones that everyone remembers. I think that unconciously everyone is influenced by stereotypes even if they don't mean to be.

Oh, mind your own business. That's not what Justin meant... he's implying that *I* should be more "masculine" because supposedly "feminine" gay guys are viewed negatively in the gay community. So step off.

I don't know how I feel about all this. Personally, there are things I wouldn't myself do, and that kind of annoy me when other gay guys do them. I guess going out of your way to be more feminine does bother me. But so does going out of your way to be more masculine. It's obvious when people are purposefully flaunting femininity or overtly trying to be masculine.
Honestly I know Justin pretty well and he's not one of those fake, attempting to be macho for acceptance gays, from what I gather. He's become "gayer" since he came out and it's not like he tries extra hard to act like a straight guy. I guess what he's trying to say is that he's bothered, like most less-than-totally-effeminate gay guys are, by those guys who make conscious decisions to be more girly. It does perpetuate stereotypes in a way, and we had this same conversation about a month ago regarding ghetto-acting black people.
Being "gay" doesn't mean being a feminine man. It means being a man who likes men sexually. So Justin isn't hating on gays (and thereby himself), he's expressing a disapproval for overly feminine men. Every gay man isn't naturally inclined to act like a woman.
But then again, every gay man isn't naturally inclined to act like a man either. It all depends on your upbringing and we all grew up in DIFFERENT SITUATIONS and we need to realize that everyone had different life experiences shaping the way they now act. John, I really think it's unfair to say Justin hates himself just because you have a feminine inclination - it doesn't mean he does too. And Justin, it's not fair to say that John acts TOO feminine when maybe that's just the way he naturally is and can't help it. You're not the other person, you don't know why they are that way, and you can't really fairly judge them. You don't have to be friends with each other...you don't even have to like each other...but in essence you can't say they're wrong for simply going with their own natural inclinations.
My own opinions aside, sometimes it's just best to stay quiet when you disagree with someone's behavior. I definitely get annoyed with people, but I usually don't say it in touchy situations like this. It's just very difficult to say whether someone is acting a certain way on purpose or if it's just the way they are.
I feel like I got nowhere with that post. But I had so many thoughts running through my head and I had to say something.
