Didn't Kalan Porter (Canadian Idol) get like an 8x plat single here?

Digitally?
Sales until Canadian Hot 100 (formula with digital downloads) was very poor, in 2006, most Canadian number-one singles sold less than 200 copies

For those who are interested, some history:
1955-59, CBC TV's Cross-Canada Hit Parade (determined by radio and tv stations)
1964-1981 RPM, first ranking the top 45's, then a Top 100 chart which copied Billboard's HOT 100 sales/radio airplay formula, with additional input from record labels.
1981-1992ish The Record's Singles Sales chart, even though the RPM 100 was still going strong throughout that period. RPM had also started a retail singles chart, but The Record's was more regarded and printed in Billboard's International charts section.
1992-1999/2000 Even though the labels started to release fewer and fewer singles, what was available was still being charted by The Record and was still being printed in Billboard as Canada's official singles chart. By the mid-90's, RPM 100 was an airplay only list, with combined CHR, Rock and AC/Hot AC reporters.
1997, SoundScan was used by both RPM and The Record, and the SoundScan singles chart was now authoritative, even though very few singles of popular songs were being released.
In 2000/2001, Both RPM and The Record ceased publication, but canoe.ca kept publishing the SoundScan sales charts and still does to this day. They also publish the BDS all-format airplay chart.
2001 New trade magazine Canadian Music Network starts publishing the Canadian BDS airplay audience chart (100 titles) and many favour it over the SoundScan chart with its very few hit titles making the list.
2002 Canada's major labels agree to bring life back to the cd single and start releasing more and more hit titles. The SoundScan chart is looked to with more interest as Canada's official singles chart.
Mid-2000's Only a couple of years after trying to re-invigorate the cd singles market, the labels once again start holding back the majority of hit songs on physical formats and start making digital product available to legal download sites. The majority of hit songs can now be purchased digitally. The SoundScan physical singles chart, however, still plugs along, despite the huge decrease in product. Canadian Music Network also ceases publication, along with the Canadian BDS Airplay audience chart. The Canadian BDS All-format airplay chart on canoe.ca is now looked upon with more favour.
2005/2006 Billboard starts publishing a top 10 SoundScan digital singles chart for Canada, and many start to regard it as an official chart
2007 Billboard introduces the Canadian HOT 100, a combination of digital sales and radio airplay audience data and up until the present, it is regarded as Canada's official singles chart. Billboard also increases the Canadian SoundScan digital singles chart from 10 to 75 titles, and starts publishing the Canadian BDS airplay audience chart (75 titles). Both airplay and digital lists are only available to billboard/billboard.biz subscribers.
Late 2000's canoe.ca starts publishing the top 50 of the SoundScan digital singles chart, and continues to publish the SoundScan physical singles chart (only the top 20) and the top 100 BDS all-format airplay chart.

"It (Hold It Against Me) is only the third song to enter the chart at the top, the song also scores the No. 1 debut on the Digital Songs chart, with 37,000 downloads. It is the best one week sales total for a song in its first week on the chart and is the second best one week sales total for any release, behind the 38,000 downloads sold of Black Eyed Peas’ “The Time (Dirty Bit)” three weeks ago.."
so...
Boyfriend: 55,000
Born This Way: 53,000
The Time 38,000
Hold It Against Me 37,000
Tik Tok: 36,000
Right Now: 30,000

Do you have the year end digital albums sales for 2010 and 2011?
I think Eminem might be at the top of the 2010 one since his album managed to go x5 platnium there by the end of the year.

I guess I just casually skimmed over the word digitally. It must have either been physically, or I'm just stupid.

No data for 2008 digital singles? I'm curious to see if 4 Minutes made the top 10.

Actually, I just checked and he did. But since it was a physical single, he just had to sell 80,000 to go 8x Platinum
