We're going to start with the basics.
| |
Blind by Ke$ha
2010 was Ke$ha's breakout year. I quickly went from a casual listener to a stan during the first few months of the year. Animal had many gems, including "Blind". Why doesn't she have more songs like it?! |
| |
Stuttering by Fefe Dobson
One of Miss Dobson's "major comeback" singles. It's a shame it wasn't more successful. I was sort of into Fefe at the time, but Joy made me want to like her more. The reason "Stuttering" is so low is because of that annoying ass "oh oh oh oh e e e e e" part. Other than that, it's a great song! |
| |
Oh Santa! by Mariah Carey
This song is such a mess. Probably one of the messiest Christmas songs I've heard. From the pronunciations to the random black child singing the background vocals. But I love it. I love it a lot. |
| |
Sunshine by Rye Rye & M.I.A.
"Sunshine" was probably one of my most random finds of 2010. I think it was under a "People who bought this also purchased..." section of iTunes. I like it, though, It's cute. It's sad that her album didn't live up to the quality of this. |
| |
The One That Got Away by Katy Perry
Oh, the flawless bop that would have most likely been in my top 10 during 2010 when I was a stan. Great single, great song, good video. |
| |
Talk To Me by Andrea Lewis
I think I'm the only person who listened to this album. It was great. All you need to know is Andrea Lewis was on Degrassi, and I found her music on one of those basic Blogspot music sites a few years ago when the government didn't care about piracy. She released the album for free, though! "Talk To Me" features Simon Curtis (I don't care for him). It's a beautiful song. |
| |
White Swans by Andra
Another talented artist that none of you will know. She was "discovered" by Alicia Keys' producer Kerry "Krucial" Brothers. He produced the entire mixtape/album. It basically consists of samples of a few rappers' (Drake, Lupe, etc) lesser known songs and a few original songs. It's pretty nice. "White Swan" received a little bit of attention on music blogs in 2010, and Alicia even promoted it if I remember correctly. Andra was on Real World last year, by the way. |
| |
Up Out My Face (feat. Nicki Minaj)
by Mariah Carey
One of Nicki's first major collaborations. I remembered how excited I was for her. I remember how much I enjoyed the song and the video at the time. It's a shame that they hate each other now. Anyway, even if slightly basic and corny, "Up Out My Face" was a nice bop! |
| |
Cooler Than Me by Mike Posner
This song was everywhere in 2010! It couldn't be avoided. I hated it for the longest time, but have accepted the fact that it's a guilty pleasure. |
| |
F*ckin' Perfect by P!nk
I feel a little bad for ranking this so low. In 2010, it would have been top 20. But I can't. It's a great song, though. The message is cute. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did at the time. It's easily one of P!nk's best singles! |

Ooh so you're the one who took this layout, it was one of my top picks as well. Glad to see Pink here as well as Fefe, Stuttering is a very underrated song.

The bottom half of the list isn't a good indication of my musical taste. It starts getting good soon!

I love "Oh Santa!". Good to see "Cooler Than Me" and "F***ing Perfect" there too.
And those graphics are stealing the show.

Grown Woman by Kelly Rowland
Ah, one of Kelly's many, many promo singles from what would become Here I Am. It's a shame they didn't include it on the album, since it's better than 99% of the other songs. Kelly's attitude and vocals are on point in "Grown Woman". |
| |
Speechless by Ciara
"Speechless" is an essential Ciara track; beautiful vocals, infectious beat and cute lyrics. I think I may be one of the few ATRLers who thoroughly enjoyed Basic Instinct. "Speechless" may be one of my favorite Ciara songs to date. |
| |
Give Me Your Love by Florrie
There isn't much to say about this song. It's cute. It's fun. I liked it. It's probably the only amazing song on Introduction EP. |
| |
The Story Of Us by Taylor Swift
I won't even lie, I didn't even know about this song until this year. They play it daily at work. I was forced to suffer through several months of it, until I finally liked it. The concept is cute. I couldn't get it out of my head for the longest time. It helped me get into Taylor's discography. |
| |
I Am Not A Robot by Marina & The Diamonds
Classic Marina. Who could forget the video? The song and video are so unique, I like it. This was the first Marina song I ever heard, and it made me love her. It probably deserves to be higher, but this will do. |
| |
Difficult by Uffie
I wish more people knew about and appreciated Uffie. She's like the original Ke$ha, but better. Sorry, but it's true. Anyway, after years of waiting, we finally got Sex Dreams & Denim Jeans in 2010, and it was filled with many noteworthy songs. "Difficult" in particular caught my attention because of the lyrical delivery, and eventually the video. It's very catchy. |
| |
Hungover by Ke$ha
"Hungover" is probably by favorite (and most played) song on Animal. It's so emotional and relatable. I overplayed it to the point where I can't listen to anymore (that's a compliment). |
| |
My Medicine by The Pretty Reckless
"My Medicine" was the beginning of The Pretty Reckless's polished, "edgy" sound. I didn't care for it at first, as I was a huge stan at the time and was expecting something different. But after seeing them in concert a few times and hearing the song live, I fell in love with it. The video is beautifully executed. |
| |
Little Dreamer by Christina Aguilera
I secretly cried to this song a few times when it came out. Why? I don't know. It just has a really sad, "I just lost my baby and can't cope" vibe to it. It's very weird, and kind of creepy. I love it. Christina blew me away with "Little Dreamer". I can't believe that it was just a bonus track. |
| |
Renegade (feat. Static Revenger) by Wynter Gordon
One of Wynter's many **** anthems. I was instantly addicted. It's easily the best song on The First Dance. |
