If "Red" overtakes "21" (perhaps unlikely, but possible) to become the largest selling set of the year, it will mark the second time Swift has earned the year's top selling set. Her "Fearless" was 2009's biggest album, with 3.217 million moved that year.
In order to bypass "21," Swift would have to sell more copies of "Red" than she's ever sold of a single album in a calendar year. That's a tall order, but with Swift, anything is possible.
This is true but I like records like these because they are more honest about which album is the most succesful at the time. Right now people keep track of the hot 100 but would anyone claim that the results right now are really telling us what the most popular song is? When you track the most popular albums released in a year you get to have a good idea about how popular the artist truly is whether the GP cares about that record doesn't matter to me because I only talk about it because it shows how succesful the artist truly is.
I thought the US sales tracking year was from Oct to Oct? If so then Adeles 2012 sales will be even more incredible because her album sold millions in the last 2 months of 2011 in the US.
Even so, with only 9 weeks left this year Taylor would need to sell over 300k every week to get close to Adele's sales in 2012. And thats not even including Adeles additional sales from now...and its still a top 10 album!
