And that is a disgrace.

Are you ****ing kidding me?
Shut your ****ing mouth
How dare you imply that I'll use this massacre as some sort of vessel to push some "anti TDKR agenda" that doesn't even exist.
What you call "bashing", was just adjusting people's expectations so they wouldn't end up disappointed (although guess what, some of us were still disappointed)
So if you want to hold some stupid fanboy grudge and thus claim that I'm a part of a conspiracy to ruin The Dark Knight Rises' reputation, that's your foolish choice.
But you better shut the **** up before you use this tragedy as a method to avenge Batman or something.

I was actually afraid to see the movie, though, so I didn't. It would've pulled in more numbers if the incident hadn't happened.

There's a trailer that plays in front of certain TDKR screenings (although now it's been removed) for a movie called The Gangster Squad.
There's a scene where they open fire on a movie theatre audience

Oh, I'm sorry. In the future, I'll let our shining white knight adjust expectations in peace. If you're going to wear a mask, make sure it covers your face.
I am as saddened as the next person that things like this happen in our world. But it is unacceptable to me that people--and no, I'm not trying to target just you Shapes--see this as an opportunity to guilt others. It breaks my heart that blacking this movie out from mention through all media is somehow seen as the right thing to do.

This movie could make $40,000,000 or $400,000,000 this weekend and I couldn't care less about the numbers being influenced by the shooting.
That's the last thing that you should complain about when it comes to consequences from the shooting.

Who is complaining about that ?
Anyway, 173 million still surpasses its predecessor. It performs decent enough.

Oh **** off.
Quit thinking that I'm celebrating the fact that TDKR isn't making as much money as it could because of this mass-killing. That's really ****ing immature, not that I care, everyone in this thread can see how tactless you are.
My apologies for sharing my opinion, but stop this whole "Stop disliking what I like" stance.

The midweek grosses are going to be massive, and, regardless of how this sounds, the fact of the matter is that there's now a certain mystique around this movie as a result of the shootings. It's now reached a watercooler level beyond where movies usually get. So while some people may avoid the theatre this weekend, it won't be long before they head back, and they'll want to see the infamous movie that caused the tragedy. It's going to have legs.

I saw a quote in the thread that says "I wish the shooting never happened so those people wouldn't be dead and the movie would make more money"
I mean even the company that invested $250,000,000 in this movie is keeping their mouths shut out of respect.

I say SHE herself was nothing special, but the character the writers created was actually compelling.

I get what you're saying, but that's not what you said earlier.
You said that because I've been actively critical of TDKR before and after release, I'm secretly pleased by the poor box office gross, and that my shaming of those who are concerned is wrapped up in an ulterior motive to defame TDKR.
That's what I'm upset about, because I'm not some sort of monster who is invested in this movie's failure as a result of the incident in Aurora.

It's to be expected, when you take away midnights, TDKR only did ~$45M on Friday.
It's not terribly frontloaded at least, and as you said Nicole, this movie will have legs (although it would regardless of what happened)

And so what? It's "disgusting" that they feel that way about it?
I guess it's your opinion, but it's not cool to try and guilt trip people like that. Let 'em be.

She made a better Catwoman than I expected. She aces the sweet-to-badass switch in the beginning.
