When will white people understand that it just is NOT OK for them to use that word EVER. It will always be questioned and criticized because of the history. Just stop being stupid and keep it to your damn self. Have you not been taught respect and self control, like a civilized individual?
Maybe they wouldn't think it was okay, if the word hasn't already become a term used for friends or just ANYTHING in general. It's only when a person of a different skin color uses the word, that it becomes highly offensive and racist.
I mean, I don't get how people can throw the race card when you spat that word 10 times in a sentence.
I heard it's not even her who tweeted that, Ty or someone used her phone.
In this case it was just a song but I think people should stop using that word altogether. Guys at my work call each other like that for fun and none of them are black.
Whether that term is racist or not depends on the context, and I don't think it's racist in certain contexts (e.g. a black guy saying it to his black friend in a friendly manner, or when quoting a song title that uses the word).
Black people weren't the only people offended by it. She was being criticized by people of all races. Idiot.
yes but think about when its mentioned in the news or papers or radio or tv etc whats the race everyones gonna think was offended? black people! and be real you know most the people convincing themselves its racist are black

She was quoting the title of a song, she didn't say "me up here with my n***as" or something. There are a lot of black people who use that word so arbitrarily and when Gwyneth uses it in the context of a song title (a song that was named by two black men), it's "just not okay"? I disagree. She wasn't being disrespectful or stupid.
Most young people use this word. Black kids say it, white kids say it, asian kids say it, its not a big deal and its just a word that kids use jokingly. I know two girls who are best friends, one if them is arabic and the other is white. The white one always calls the other one by this term and the arabic girl usually responds by calling her a **** or a ho-bag. I know the n word has a bad history but its time people got over that and just realised that people don't mean it like that anymore.
