Yes! I'm openly gay at work. I am treated no differently and am put forward for promotions and other opportunities due to my work ethic and not my sexuality. Ireland is a great country to be gay in I can be openly gay anywhere without prejudice.

I think that many people have it backwards. If you're more open and honest with people at work (not middle/high school, though), there's more potential of them liking you and new friendships forming. I dunno, many people thought I was a bitch when I first started when I would keep to myself and wouldn't say a word about home life. And it's nice being openly gay because if they ever try to fire you, you can play the gay card.

I think I've told you about it before. I live in Chicago. Well, partially. I have a weird custody thing going on, so I'm in the suburbs with my godfather for a "better" school on the weekdays then with my mom in the city on the weekends.

People gets you better when they know u're gay, i've never been a lonely person, but i started doing REAL friends once i accepted my sexuality to them, people used to think that i was a mean bitch..

Oh sis. I totally know how you feel. That's how it was for me in high school, too, when I went for a whole one month during my freshman year. I started at a new school and when I told a couple of people that I considered "friends" that I was gay, they proceeded to tell everybody, follow me home and ended up breaking in my house and assaulted me later the next day. They did all of this so they could look cool, saying they beat up "the new ******". I was kicked out of school for THAT because they said that I was "a disruption", and had to move me to their homeschooling program.

**** high school kids. No wonder shootings happen so often.

I agree. I mean, it does open you up to more potential hate, but I haven't received any at all. Most people tend to be more accepting if they know you're open about something like that. But I also understand that it's nearly impossible for some people to come out given their circumstances.
