I'm just gonna judge these based on the years in which both were running, in the interest of fairness. If Seinfield had kept going along with The Simpsons, I'm sure it would degenerate into **** too.
So I'll go with The Simpsons, for pretty much the reasons MrPeanut stated. Seinfield is amazing too, though.
]Seinfeld is awful. I love random shows but the only time I've ever laughed at that show is Elaine's dancing.[/B]
The Simpsons > Seinfeld.
I think Seinfeld is the most relevant show of my lifetime. Twenty years later, the things - the random elements that added up to "nothing" - STILL HAPPEN.
I I fail to see Seinfeld's influence and I don't think the Simpsons has really provided any positive ones at all. I'm not saying Friends is perfect and has had incredible influence, but I feel that it has had much more than Seinfeld for sure.
The Office
Arrested Development
Pretty much every laugh-track free comedy of the past decade has The Simpsons' fingerprints on it, nevermind how groundbreaking it was in terms of primetime animated comedies.

I like what it did. It's very much like The Beatles for me. I like what they did, but I don't like their material much. I like how Seinfeld changed TV I mean a show like 30 Rock which I love would never exist without Seinfeld. Much like most Pop Music wouldn't exist without The Beatles. I just personally don't enjoy it that much.
I respect The Simpsons because of its iconic history, but I'm going with Seinfeld just because it made me laugh more. People saying they think it's awful, I just assume they don't get the jokes.
Tho, I do have to say The Simpsons have more iconic catchphrases that are still used today.
