The fact the series never won even a single technical award is pretty ridiculous. That was definitely some Academy snobbery right there, not a comment on its quality, because the crew did amazing work on those films.
I think it should've been nominated for Best Picture and won at least one technical award, but it wasn't majorly snubbed. It's ridiculous that the franchise as a whole hasn't win any, but it would be unreasonable to expect each individual film to win something.
I don't get why everyone thought it should've got one. I guess once you get so popular and hit the money/popularity ceiling the next place to go is the Oscars but the thing is, CGI and Special Effects were really their only strong contender and someone always did better.
Honestly, yes it was snubbed. The series consistently got good reviews and this last movie was no exception. It's meta critic score is higher than a handful of winners and picture of the year nominated movies too, I believe.
But the oscars have always been super snobby, so I'm not surprised that it has never won anything.
The thing is that the Harry Potter series DID earn it. It earned it FAR more than any other film presented last night. The Academy has a stick up their ass to turn their nose up to a story so compelling and fulfilling.
I didn't think this last movie was very good. It seemed very rushed, especially when you compare it to the book--which is strange because they made the book into two movies...
I'm still pressed about Hugo winning Visual Effects. Have y'all seen that movie? Apart from the train scene there really are no major visual effects involved. I was so mad when they announced it over Harry
