Del Rey continued: "Things are cool. They always will be, whether the music goes good or not. Like, I consider being able to sing a luxury, it doesn't run my life, is not my main focus.
I think she should just become a writer or just go indie.
That's what I was thinking.
I guess I don't understand the concept of an artist making music and not like performing what they created live. It's sort of part of the job of being a 'singer', not an extra luxury attribute.
Actually what she's saying is that she's human. Sometimes other things are more important for her than her music. Not every artist puts their music before everything in life.
It looks like shes just here to waste peoples time, at least thats what I been getting allot from her recent interviews + this one.
She's not allowed to do music if it's not the absolute number 1 priority in her life? She absolutely needs to put music above her family and everything else that matters? That's what I been getting a lot from the posts in this thread + this one. No one is forcing you to "waste time" by listening to her.

I agree. It just feels like she has this huge opportunity and is just taking it all so casually and isn't trying her absolute best. If you suck live, then get some vocal training. Don't just shrug your shoulders and write it off as a luxury. There are thousands of other people who would kill to be in her spot right now.
"Born to Die" is a fantastic song, on repeat and one of my favorite songs out right now.
But in my opinion, it ***** all over her discography.
I just find her to be a really confused/confusing person. I actually quite like her in interviews, but hate most of her music and her live performances.
More than anything I just find that I don't understand the girl. It seems like she's quite apathetic about her career.
Wow. What a mess of an interview. She needs a better publicist.
Right?
And this isn't even her response to SNL. This interview is from before SNL:
Quote:
While she still hasn't officially commented on the criticism, the singer spoke to the Fuse network just days before the "SNL" gig and said that, frankly, live performance is not really her thing.
