"There's nobody really in my league," when asked who she sees herself in competition with.
This is the part where a seat and her sitting in it comes in real handy...

So who does someone as huge as Rihanna look to for inspiration?
"Madonna," she reveals. "She reinvented her style and music with success every single time, and at the same time remained a real force. She's fantastic."
Yeah, saying that you're in your own league doesn't definitively mean that you think you're better than everyone else (you can be in your own league and still be better or worse than someone), though it certainly implies that.
However, she is Bajan. She may not have a firm grasp on American idiom usage, so not too much on her.
You're making it look worse & more conceited than she meant. She's saying no one does exactly the music/image she does & therefore she's not competing with anyone in that sense.
She sorta worded it in a conceited manner but I do agree with you. The gerls are gonna twist this around though
Magazines ask these types of questions for a response so the answer can be taken out of context & made to be look like a self-praise/diss to others. Then, the media takes that & multiples.
I'm sure she meant that nobody does her image or style, which is true, but that could be said for any artist.
If she meant it in that nobody is on her league in the game, she is far from right.
