Also she makes music more appealing to women.
Lady Gaga must be the biggest popstar nowadays.
Her music appeals more to adults, children, teenagers and also to all genres, i think that fits more the definition of being 'biggest'.

Beyonce, Adele and GaGa obviously are bigger forces in pop music because she is not full on pop but makes country music with some elements of pop appeal in it so close the thread.

I don't understand what you mean because english isn't my language but just in case, i wasn't hating on Taylor Swift, i don't even like Gaga, just in my opinion i was expressing what i think defines better what the 'biggest' popstar should be.

Why would one read it when it's clearly not true. The delusion.

Long Live is more mature than most of the other girls' discographies.
And from what I can tell, at least 50% of Taylor's major fans on this forum are male...

It's not like I ever said she was the biggest popstar in the United States in the post.

In the US? Possibly. Her power there is immense, but falls short elsewhere. You can't really compare though because she is a "hybrid" in her types of music, her album sales etc are from both country and pop fans. She attracts to both genres.

Honestly, I don't see how people don't like Taylor.
She's the girl next door, she writes greatsongs, her voice is good, she's got talent, she's not overplayed, she's down to earth, she seems like one of the nicest celebrities.
Seriously, why the hate

I wouldn't consider her a "popstar", but I guess some people would because she's quite relevant in the Northamerica (not so much in the rest of the world), she's sold a lot of albums last years (in the US mainly) and she's got that "appeal" that attracts young girls who usually use pop artists.
She's the "perfect girl", "role model", the poor girl that is misunderstood or "mistreated" by men, etc. Also, her "issue" with that rapper (I don't remember his name now) helped a lot on that. I don't like or dislike her, but her music is getting stale, she keeps releasing the same stuff over and over again. She might have problems if she decided to make some changes on her music style, like, going more pop or more country, or changing the subjects she talks about on her songs.
She's been quite consistent on her fame and relevance last 2-3 years, so we can't say she's a "one hit wonder", BUT we still need to see her longevity for mainstream success. If she's able to keep being relevant and selling as much as she's doing now. She's still very young, so she would still have a long career, let's see.

Nothing is stopping other pop artists from crossing over. If I recall, I saw many Rihanna stans bragging about how many genres she has crossed into earlier today. You're saying she shouldn't be considered a popstar because she effortlessly overcame that divide that others struggle to?

Maybe i'm wrong. It's just my opinion.
As a 22 years old man i can't relate with any lyrics by her and i wouldn't find any of my friends (men) listening to her music.
I'm not denying she one the biggest artist and bestselling in US.
Just doesn't think of her as a 'popstar'.... what i think about when you say that word is Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and others... nothing personal.

If you read my post, I never said she couldn't be a popstar. I simply said, one of the reasons she is so big and her sales are high is she attracts to multiple genres. I never said anything about other Pop stars.

The only ones above her in USA are Adele and Gaga atm.
I don't know why is it so bad to consider her pop though. Bey stans call her the Queen of Pop and everything.

Probably. She attracts to both pop and country audiences, people of all ages can listen to her music, that's why she's this big.

She has some annoying qualities particularily her same "oh my god I won another award" look when she really shouldn't be surprised at all, her image gets tiring and old at times, and I don't think she is very good live performer AT ALL. Nonetheless I like her music and find her attractive.

I'd think that yes, she is. But more like the Queen of Sales, I mean, WTF at her slaying iTunes with songs that were released last year.

No, you said you can't compare her to other pop stars because of that. I'm saying "why not?"
