The world and billboard charts are not here for "serious Katy." So, if she wants to maintain this current success, she better stick with her bubblegum pop, which she most likely will.

Don't be mad.

But Lady Gaga is not in the same league as Beyoncé and Britney.

Katy?
Rihanna IS the future of pop. Lady Gaga is kind of fading right now. But let's see next era.

I wouldn't like Katy to go serious. She's a fun pop singer, that's what she is, if she went too serious then people would lose a lot of interest. I'd just like her to progress musically, while keeping the fun pop side to her.

Also sammi's right about the general public liking katy. The perception of stans on forums and the general public really is different.

THE NEXT LEVEL: Lady GaGa, Beyoncé, Britney (in the past), Madonna. Amy Winehouse (r.i.p.)
GOOD: Rihanna, ADELE
Random but good pop singers: Katy, Britney (now)
Bad singers: Ke$ha
It's my opinion, so, don't report me.

Katy really only delivers with single success, and that success usually doesn't trandscend well WW. Katy falls short in everything else.
Frankly, both artists lack any stage charisma or personality. They're not exciting to watch or listen to, they're just missing that 'it factor' element.
|
Katy's tour is doing amazing. She's making 44 million on Forbes. Her album in 2x Platinum in US and 3x Platinum in UK.
The only thing she has to do is become more mature, with image and music.

She'll eventually have to move away from singing about highschool, and when that happens I don't think the public will like that too much. Might as well etch the first mark into her career tombstone.

EVERY POPSTAR IS MANUFACTURED....
Even Pink and Beyonce. Even Madonna.... And of course Lady Gaga for sure (#1 on that list)
Lets not be cynical and get our facts straight.

You're right, she will have to move on one day, but I don't think that would be "etching the first mark into her career tombstone", I just think she'd lose some popularity. She'd still have a massive fan base, don't worry about that.
