Her music is just fine, people just are unfortunately fickle. Nothing is going to change for her, the album will flop because people don't want Ciara, not because the music is bad. Too much stan drama, too many egos, and too many hurt feelings. People don't realize that a huge majority of black female artists share fans, and when it comes time to take sides, everyone chooses Beyonce or Rihanna leaving the rest of the girls to flop very badly and since the stans wars blazed up in 2008 things have been looking messy.
Basically.
But the next album will **** and that's all that matters.
She needs to promote her **** and stop blaming it on the label.... Thats it.
But she did, she started paying for her own videos. Jive didn't put that much promotion into her because their main focus is the chick in my avatar. I don't think Ciara was using Jive as a scape goat but they def. weren't handling her career correctly, nor was Ciara happy there.

Ciara promotes though.
People just seem to not like her for some reason. And like Sats said, it may be because of stan wars, it may be because female R&B acts get the backseat to Bey and Rih, or maybe people just think she's a has-been. And the latter is no shade, but she's done everything to try to get another hit and nothing has worked.

Alicia Keys took a backseat to neither one. She is still having success because she built up a devoted fanbase, which Ciara should have done between Goodies and The Evolution.

Oh, I definitely forgot about Mrs. Beats. Alicia and even Mary have both accumulated a steady fanbase that, I believe, will support them no matter what. Other than those two, almost every other female in the R&B genre has either flopped and underperformed significantly. And I'm not saying it's strictly because of Bey and Rih, but I'm saying they're basically the only two who have commercial success time and time again with both Mainstream and Urban audiences.
How many shows did she appear on?? 3. That is NAWT promotion.
She paid for that video out of pocket bcuz Jive didnt want to support it or the song and she should have listened to them bcuz that WAS nawt the best single choice.

lol Alicia ISN'T a commercial pop star like Ciara, Beyonce and Rihanna is though. She makes music that appeals to more than just teens, the same applies for Adele.
Her music isn't hot or current (for the most part)....she needs to come hard next time with intense music that matches the moves.
Scenario #1 - If she makes pop music or up to date R&B and whatnot people would look at her like "what the ****?" No matter how HOT it is. They want the "old Ci".
Scenario #2 - If she stays true to her roots everyone wants something new. She's basic, she has no growth, blah blah blah.
Fact #1 - There's only room for 2 African American woman in the business.
Fact #2 - No R&B chicks are doing it.
Fact #3 - It's just okay to hate her and downplay her entire early-career. She's a flop and a hasbeen.
She's done. She might get a hot producer who makes her a single that's a huge hit, and people on atrl will be quick to pronounce it her ultimate comeback, but her album will still flop up and down the charts no matter what she does. You don't come back from where she is now, not if your career was based on a gimmicky genre to begin with and your decline has been so sharp.
Basic Instinct wasn't even her make it or break it album, it was Fantasy Ride

Well by your definition, none of these girls are pop stars then.

She is an R&B artist who has and continues to have mainstream success even with a decline and still has a solid fanbase, is my point. Ciara is not being swept under the rug because of petty stan wars on the Internet. She's being swept under the rug because she is not giving material that would make her competitive.
"Never Ever?" "Gimme Dat?" "Ride?" Musically, she's stuck, and this is coming from someone who has supported Ciara from day one.

Not true at all. If Ciara returned with radio-ready material, an updated sound, a fresher look, and tons of promo and label support, she could get back to the top. She just has to reintroduce herself as if she were a new artist because it's been so long since she's been relevant.

Look at the trajectory of her career. She went from Goodies, an album with longevity, a #1 smash and 2 more #2 hits to Evolution, an album with 1 Top 10 hit and that debuted at #1 and fell like a rock afterwards. Basically all thanks to good will from her first era. Let's not even talk about her eras after that. People have not been checking for her since 2006 and they will continue to not do so.
So, basically she would need to change literally everything about herself to become relevant again? That's not gonna happen, and even if it did, she wouldn't become successful on a level higher than a single hit single and a flop album. How many forgotten stars and one-trick ponies have ever completely revamped their image and regained their old success? She's not Madonna. If she changes everything she'll be considered a sell-out and a label puppet and a laughing stock. People do remember what she did back in the day, they just don't care for her anymore.

I concur. It would be nice if she were to go back to her roots (Goodies) but I doubt she would, she had her OWN sound at that time, and it was innovative because she was the only chick doing Crunck music mixed with urban pop.
