I'll probably get reported, but this whole love yourself **** is only making things worse.
For example, how Gaga treated the Jamie situation. I can see her intentions, but I don't think it's the right way do it.

It's kind of true. It's giving young kids the incentive to let their freak flags fly without realizing that cruel, immature school children won't ever stop being little pricks. Kids need to learn to stick it out for that (very minimal) portion of their life.

I think we understand that they want to make a law to really stop it, but damn, there's no need for these things. It only confuses people.

So true, and in a way, it's glamorizing suicide as a way out of troubles.....

11 years old!?!?! That is way too young! This is so sad!
Just some things:
-I don't understand how the "love yourself" message is partially responsible for these disasters. Please explain.
-I understand the "why didn't you just stand up for yourself" argument, but people who take their own lives have issues that are much deeper than that. Perhaps something from inside of them doesn't allow them to fight for themselves, and obviously, bullying affects some people more than others. I like to compare those who are being bullying to using a drug: some people will come away from it like nothing happened and have no consequences, while others will be internally damaged severely which can lead to the loss of their life.
Also, Do you think the media is more aware of these "bullying suicides" because of Gaga, or is it the other way around? Or do you think they are not related at all?

Like he is the only one in the world who has ever gotten bullied? Like he couldn't raise his voice a speak out to a teacher, parent, counselor, etc...??
And bullying is no secret, why the parent's seemingly did NOTHING until the boy killed himself is beyond me. After being diagnosed with a disease and his mother dying -- the poor boy probably needed some counseling too.

He was 11 and couldn't physically defend himself (muscular dystrophy). Kids don't have real perspective. If they feel pain it's all they can think about. When you're in pain, there is no "future," it's just an immediate, infinite state.
At least it wasn't another gay thing. This is just as bad, though.
BTW, clearly, suicides aren't happening more than they used to. They're just being reported. Like Nicole said... the media controls the public consciousness. We think more kids are killing themselves because that trend is snowballing with interest.

According to what I read on Tumblr hours ago, Only two news stations picked the story up.
Anyways, I understand where the people here saying get a backbone are coming from but sometimes it's not that simple. Just saying.

I wanted to say this but ain't want heads to come at me.
If I was getting bullied, I'm not going to allow them to bother me to the point to contemplate suicide. Parents need to start teaching their child at an young age on how to hold their own and not let little **** like this both you. You have to defend yourself because if you don't and just sit there, it'll only get worse, just like this case.

Not to mention the male celebrities cheating on their girlfriends/wives. And the mothers that murdered their children. They love hot news stories, unfortunately. It's sad that bullying has become one.

Glamorizing suicide? Please, anyone who goes down that road doesn't do it because they are following the trend. They probably feel trapped or perceive that they are alone. Let alone, he was eleven years old. He's hardly emotionally developed at that stage in life (maybe you were, but I assure you that you'd be the exception, not the norm).
If any blame is thrown here, it's to the parents of all the kids involved.

.. What's sad is that there's "easy" solutions to situations like these.

I don't feel sorry for him and I'm prepared to write an entire speech to anyone wondering why, I am so over this bullied to death excuse that everyone is using over the smallest things today. There are people being raped, beaten, and living on the streets and these little boys are killing themselves because someone pushed them or called them a ***. If their parents would first accept them and teach them that **** happens, they could prevent their children from death so early. If bullies know they can get rid of the things they don't accept by simply saying a few words and taunting them, that is what they will do until they are all dead and gone. Most of these kids are killing themselves because they keep hearing other people are doing it.

This is getting completely ridiculous. All these young boys taking their lives over bullying. I think bullying someone based on their sexual orientation should fall under a hate crime, and the student or group that is bullying should be expelled and charged. At my school, if you were caught bullying someone with a learning disability, handicap, or based on race, you we're immediately expelled from the school. This happened to at least a dozen students last year!

While I agree in a way, suicide IS being glamorized, satellites said it best:
"Most of these kids are killing themselves because they keep hearing other people are doing it."
Honestly, I didn't even know what suicide was until I was like 14. ....and the fact that he killed himself though suffocation, that is just too much -- no kid should know how to kill themselves so elaborately.

Suicide is a much deeper problem that cannot be simplified like that. I would have been more likely to agree with you before I experienced the suicide of a family member. Nobody at all really saw the suicide coming in my family, and we only noticed clues after the fact, in hindsight.
There is typically some type of mental issue involved, and because of that, I think it is completely unfair to blame the 11 year old child. And while I agree that it isn;t 100% the bully's fault, they could have triggered the death.

most likely. They're the most unstable group of people I've ever come across. Its a shame that an artists who prides herself on her gay fans, does next to nothing to help bullied victims. What is he, the 8th Lady Gaga fan to commit suicide, and now she's finally notices there's a problem. This just goes to prove they only care when you die!
