i think it also gives people the impression that you're healthy and fit. because you always see guys who are all muscular and tanned, and you immediately know they do a lot of sports and it makes them more attractive

As long as they don't resemble Oompa Loompas, I don't see what the big deal is. Although I kinda hate that paleness is discouraged, now.

But what I find interesting is that no one questions white people getting tans, whereas there's a bit of a shitstorm when naturally darker people lighten their skin.

If a black person sits in a bathtub of cold water or ice it makes their skin lighter. I don't really know much about it because I'm white but my friend does it even though she is beautiful the way she is. She hates that her skin is so dark.

coco chanel started the whole tanning trend in the 60s, if anyone is interested. if you notice in any tv/films made during or after the 60s, the stars are tanned. they're the ones who made it chic

i don't think its a matter of wanting to be black for white people. its just perceived as more attractive. and lets be honest, i think white people know a tan is not going to make them look black, no matter how dark they get themselves

To be honest i see nothing wrong with people lightening their skin or tanning it, the reason there's more buzz when a dark skin person lighten his/her skin is because it usually comes with other procedures like in Michael Jackson's case (''even if he had vitiligo''..) or lil kim
