Let's see if she can have longevity. She is not the 1st soul british singer to be overhyped : Amy Winehouse, Joss Stones, Leona Lewis,Duffy...where are they now? Nora Jones wasn't british but she was a soul act overhyped too she had one album wonder and then disappeared.
Rihanna, Shakira, Beyonce and other so called "sexy acts" are still relevant.
And honestly I personnally don't like Adele,she is talented but IMO she is rude.

I liked this article, but then again I'm biased. Not that big of dance-pop fan, I only like R&B and soul. We need more artists like Adele, British or American, dominating the charts. If you look at the last decade, besides The Fame Monster, all the top selling albums went to none sex-selling artists.
No matter which way you try to spin it, Adele is popular only because of her music. You barley hear anything about her in the Media (Stuff like what she's wearing, what she attended, what Hot List she has topped or these shallow kind of things) but she's popular because of the great music she produces.
I'm happy that an artists had been able to achieve in an era where people focus so much about the image.
