Yes but queens Rih and Bih are really the only black female pop stars we have and they both established their careers a long time ago when R&B was still popping. Urban is hot right now but it's mainly "pop-urban" and it's mostly male-dominated in that area.
That said, the racisme part was more facetious. If I'm being serious, I think it has a lot to do with her/her label choosing weak singles and not knowing how to promote her. To a lesser extent, I also think T herself doesn't know exactly what she wants either.
Aquarius was an amazing album and really established a distinct sound for her. 2 On was great and All Hands on Deck was a nice follow-up (Pretend was a bit of a misfire, but they had to get it out as it was the only other single-worthy track on Aquarius), but I think after that is where they started to flounder. It was obvious they didn't know where to take her next. Player was a big misstep, and I honestly don't think having Chris Brown on the track helped her the way it usually does for Chris' features, as he was having a huge media storm at the time.
Superlove only reinforced the fact that they had no idea what to do with her in that it sounded NOTHING like her and not in the good way. In the "Superbass, trying too hard to straddle pop and urban but failing to be Nicki" kind of way. Company is more of a return to form, but the damage was already done. The Britney feature was a cute idea, but again, seemed very unnatural and random. Also another clear ploy at trying to make her hot. It's never good when its OBVIOUS that you're desperately trying to make someone hot. People can tell.
I think she needs to sit down with her team/label and come up with a concrete plan. Maybe a rebrand, or something. The "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks" approach is okay for a developing artist, but it's not going to work for T. They've already tarnished her image too much with the random, directionless singles. Nightride was pretty good imo and they should continue in that direction if they want to regain traction. Aside from that, I'm not sure what else they can do other than a rebrand and get her in with some hot new tastemaker producers, rather than these Top 40 pop throwaway ones. Like, if they're trying to go Top 40 pop, they need to go all out with Max Martin's crew and stop giving her the scraps.
