Audio streams reached a new record high of 250.7 billion, up 82.6% over 2015.
Subscription streams grew a staggering 124.2% and accounted for 76.3% of total audio streams in 2016, up from 62.1% of total in 2015.

so basically … anyone who devalues streaming should probably stop now, now that music consumption is up and streaming is the reason why…

That may be the case for one-off acts who grab a hit single or two, but it's more probable that acts will continue to push the concept of a full album to garner more streams.
There's the Katy Perry/Ariana who will have an album full of hits and the J. Cole/Kendrick with intriguing concept albums that people play through.
Then of course the visual album concept and focus on streaming promotion on the competitive services. Hence The Weeknd dropping and pushing his album hard on Spotify when it dropped - prior to physicals.
Sales may decrease more, but I don't see a direct correlation with the death of an album. Will.i.Am thinks like that but he's a pretty bad businessman altogether.
